Replacement antenna?

The trike I just bought has just the radio working so only has one antenna on the right rear. Looks ridiculous whipping away in the breeze so I'm wondering if anyone has ever replaced that long fishing pole for a different type, hopefully shorter.

Second question; the bike doesn't have a working CB but I'm wondering if the unit stored under the seat that already has a working radio, does it also have a working CB but not hooked up. There is no antenna for it, just the radio.

I thought the giant whip was beyond ridiculous as well, picked up this little stubby antenna at a local auto parts store, don't recall the specifics but it seems to work perfectly well for the little amount I use the radio.....

The CB on the Interstate (had to be ordered separate) was put under the trunk in back, and was not part of the standard radio (under the seat) on all Interstates. 

The left handlebar controller on all Interstates controls the OE CB and intercom (whether you ordered a CB or not), and I don't think that controller easily (or even possibly) interfaces with any aftermarket CBs.

The tall Interstate whip antenna can be folded down (when not in use).

         I like the big ol whip on my I State. Shades of Adam 12 and C H I P S.  :2funny John see if you can find a knowledgeable parts person at a parts house. Or go to a place that speacilizes in radios. RIDE SAFE.

No whips for me. I just chopped mine down many years ago, and tapped a Chrome cap on top. Radio still gets reception, but I've never used it. I just like the looks of the shorter stock antenna.

I just unscrewed the OEM whip antenna and screwed the stubby one on. It was a "Universal fit" type stubby antenna I got at a random auto parts store (Probably Advance) that came with a bunch of adapters and other bits and bobs, but as I recall (It was a few years ago now) I just unscrewed the old one and this one screwed right into place.

Pretty sure of that actually, as I just swapped the stubby from my old Interstate to my new to me one before selling the old one off, took about 20 seconds total.

I ran out to the garage and got a closeup pic of the antenna, then unscrewed it and got a pic of the two sides, if that helps you any. I THINK when I bought the antenna it came with a wired base, I just unscrewed it from that then screwed it on to the Valk...

I took the black skinny antenna off my 07 Chevy P/U, it screwed on no problem, so went to parts store and bought another oem antenna and put it on the P/U.

There is a company in Manitowac, WI called The Antenna Source that makes high quality with lots of copper short antennas.  I have no radio on the Valkyrie Tourer but my Victory Cross Country had the long whip antenna always in the way, especially covering the bike.  I bought from this company this spring and it 6 3/4 inches and a direct replacement, however the package came with several other adapters.  They are made in Wisconsin.  You can go to their website or give them a call to make sure it will fit.

On my custom (trunkless) I/S I run an amplified antenna. Dakota Digital made the amp module. The antenna itself is inside the fairing, taped width-wise. It's a folded dipole design.

When I set up the trunk to go back on the bike I use the OEM CB antenna, A splitter from a GL1100A routes CB and AM/FM signals appropriately.

Also did this on my Tourer, where in addition to those radios I have a dual-band amateur radio rig. Details in a 1500 Tech Board thread about antennas, posted recently.

I agree that the antenna is nothing special. However I also agree with the above thread. I have bought from this company and the antenna was much heavier than several I have bought at the local auto stores (China?) and they are about the same  price. I am actually thinking of getting one of their amplified antenna and putting it under the fairing.
