We had a trip planned to Mississippi this past week.  However Hurricane Sally sort of changed that and we rode to Fort Payne, turned around and came back a different way.

We then headed out for a long weekend ride to NC, TN and back.

I have videos posted on YouTube and if you want to see the trip outline its shown below.

Here are some of the video links, if you are interested.  The camera's mount has a vibration issue on non smooth roads but....

Jim,

Some of my favorite rides and best memories came just that way... Started out on a well-planned trip only to have weather force me to go an entirely different direction and make 'new plans' on the fly! And, that often turned a good trip into a life-long memory... Big adventure lies in all directions, so the details are not nearly as important as we assume they are... Planning is only wise, of course, but the ability to adjust to the unexpected is everything!!!

Obviously you know about that... I'm not lecturing here, I'm only attempting to say, "I agree!!!" Thanks for sharing your experiences... You are quite the trekker, ya know!

Carolinarider, that was great! Watched all the videos and have to say, it makes me want to take a road trip really badly.
Went to the Great Smoky Mountains as a kid growing up in Chicago, it was fall and very beautiful. I remember hooking trout with Wonderbread on hook of my Popiel Pocket Fisherman Haha.

Listening to the transmission whine and clank made me want to go jump on the Valk right now. Ca. has beautiful wide open spaces to ride, but you have to get up into the mountains for lots of trees..  I miss trees  Sad Smiley

Enjoyed the videos, thanks for posting. Especially the last one, meandering through backroads past farms and old buildings, etc. What stuck out was the lack of traffic on your routes...roads like that with no traffic make for the ultimate ride. It's always great to see pics and videos of places I've never been or ridden...maybe one day I'll get down that way again cooldude
