Last Friday my daughter's 28 year-old boyfriend got T-Boned on the right side of his Yamaha R1 in Newton Center. I hesitated posting until now because of a lack of details. He was commuting from Brighton to work in Stow, MA when it happened.

He was rushed to Brigham & Woman's hospital in Boston for treatment. His right leg is broken in several places and bones were actually protruding through his skin. He ride's with a full-face helmet, but still got a mild concussion.  He's got other bumps and bruisers over his body including a shoulder. There was some initial concerns that he was going to lose is right leg, but the doctors were able to work their magic and save it. He's still in the hospital now, but we're hoping for a discharge early next week if not sooner.

I haven't seen police report but based on the intersection at which the accident occurred, it appears that the driver of the car that hit him may have been going the wrong way on a one-way street. I don't think my daughter's BF even saw it coming.  I'll share more details when I have them.

The pictures of his bike below show the magnitude of the accident.

Please be careful out there, especially in urban settings and keep him in your prayers.

Wow. That is a lot of damage on the bike. I can only imagine the force into his leg, so if he ever walks normally again, he should consider himself to be very lucky.

Hell; even if doesn't walk well again, he's still lucky to have survived that hit.

My prayers for a full recovery.

Damn that's a serious wreck.  Sounds like a long road for recovery. I hate hearing about these. Thinking of your family as you go through this.

Thanks for your comments and well wishes! I appreciate it.

His doctor told him this morning that in about a year, he should be back to his normal self. He's pretty active so for him that includes snow boarding, hiking and running. Not sure if he'll ever have the desire to ride a motorcycle again.

This morning, he walked with a walker for the first time since the accident. We're hoping that he'll be discharged as soon as Sunday. We haven't heard about what PT he'll be doing, but I would think PT would be necessary.

Still haven't got the police report yet. So we don't know how the accident happened. I really want to know how it happened. We'll see.   Undecided
