I was minding my own business, when an older Lincoln pulled across the street , I didn't have time to react, and I hit his Right Rear quarterpanel. I'm mostly OK (except my left back above my kidney - muscle pull is my guess). Seeing my primary care tomorrow Morning, will probably be miserable tonight. Lincoln driver came back and was fine until I mentioned "we'll call te LEO's to sort this out", then all of a sudden, he had to get his driver's license / insurance card, etc. Another biker was there to help me get the bike upright . and somebody went chasing him to get a tag number. Minor damage to the Bike (left front turnsignal stalk, radiator trim,, handle bars rotated, Windshield popped off left side mounts - already back in place).
Friends are good to have to get bike loaded and unloaded off tow truck.
Willow - this was in Leavenworth 4th and Miami - K-5 was definately worth the ride.

Yikes! The good news is that you're able to be here to tell us about it! As you expect (as do I), you'll be sore tomorrow, but it beats the alternative.

Sorry to hear this, hope your back checks out okay. Did they get the sumbitch's plate number?
I was riding today and a piece of plywood flew (literally) off an oncoming truck's flatbed trailer frisbee style and landed behind me in my lane where I was travelling just milliseconds earlier. I was 3/4 way past the trailer when I noticed it lifting. Saw the driver pulling over to get his wood out of the highway and was about to pull a u-ie and bitch him out. His carelessness could have decapitated me! Decided to call it a day and headed home instead.

No doubt. Although I don't remember it, the LEO that came to see me in the hospital (the same one at my accident) said so many vehicles stopped he had to tell them to move on so the ambulance could get to me. And, I wasn't even blocking traffic (I'm told). Rams

Something similar happened to me a few months ago, just a small piece of plywood will do big damage so I'm aware of trucks carrying stuff, especially moving or construction materials. It probably wouldn't be worth bitching, stupid is as stupid does. Last Friday I was pulling kinda hard in the freeway entrance near my house, as I rounded the corner and was about to merge I increased throttle and hit a patch of asphalt they'd just redone and left sand on there. The bike slipped at around 60-65 mph and I got the right foot down hard, my boot skied on the sand as I let off some throttle and the bike finally righted itself, just then the sand was gone and I scraped up the toe of my boot as my foot kicked back and dragged for a millisecond on the dry asphalt. If I went down sliding momentum would have carried me into the right freeway lane as three cars were there trying to exit.. dunno where I would have ended up had I slid into that. Fun times.. lesson for me is take it easy and control the testosterone impulses.

While I agree to a great extent, every now and then, ya just gotta roll that throttle. Just do it at the appropriate time and place. My problem is, I never know when or where that urge is gonna hit. Rams

Oh - just incase, if the local Honda dealer balks about ordering parts for a 22 yr old Valk, any body got some good sources ? Needed -Left front turnsignal / running light stalk, pieces for the left side of the radiator grill (mostly screws and trim). I'll have to check forks later.

Sorry for your troubles.
I never owned any kind of cell phone in my life, and I know you were probably preoccupied, but if an at-fault driver decided to flee, I'd have my phone out getting his picture, the car, his plate, the vin in the windshield lickedy split. This kind of thing is probably a better use for cell phones than actually talking on them.
Pinwall Cycle salvage in Ohio has loads of parts.

I got more sleep than I thought I would, just got back from a trip to the head without waking wife (have I said how lucky I am to have her lately ?). Back pain is less than when I went to bed. Still, I'm thinking some PT to loosen the muscles back there and to strengthen my core back will be in order. Otherwise, I feel fine. Minor scrape on left elbow (inside my jean jacket that didn't tear at all - Duluth Trading makes some good denim products) - of course, I stopped bleeding before taking the jacket off yesterday.

Good to hear you're ok, this and a couple other riding events lately have me thinking riding around in a 'wife beater' tank shirt might not be the best idea.

Yeah, it's probably a really bad idea. Despite my lessons this summer I've been riding around in a tee with no jacket. I refer to it as RMN - Riding Mostly Naked. I've been down hard more than once and should know better.

Glad your ok and sorry about the accident.
Had 4 people in the car and the light turned green to me, I always look both ways to see if traffic stopped. One side ok the other there were no cars stopped since traffic was light. As Im looking I see a car coming from a bit away at a good clip and not slowing down and sure enough did not stop for the light. It could have been real bad.

I've been down hard more than once and should know better. For me it's a real dilemma, growing up in Chicago and riding around like that without a helmet likely set the tone for my riding attitude in later life, which is likely the case for more than a few of us here. The main reason I ride is for the feeling of freedom, and riding around in leather or similar on a super hot day feels about the same to me as wearing a mask, I really f'n hate it.. RMN.. I like this, though I do draw a line at wearing shorts.

I've always worn jeans (or in colder weather , something insulated), and jackets appropriate to weather, and USUALY boots, about 10-20 years ago I started wearing riding gloves or heavier, and this summer just started wearing the jean jacket all summer (before, just whatever shirt / T-shirt I was wearing). Some of that was tempered by the requirements of the Navy while I was still active duty. I have ALWAYS worn a helmet (without fail - even in helmet not required states).

Still sore back, in the area of and right above my left kidney - like somebody gave me a hard hit. Primary care gave me a Muscle relaxer, and concurred with my now twice daily Naproxum (2x220 mg capsules ). As long as I keep my back straight, it's not too bad - I very specifically told her "NO NARCOTICS". I do spasm up while riding in the car, so I'd rather not go anywhere that I don't have to. I'm moving like someone 10-15 years older than I am right now.
Other than my back, I'm feeling pretty well. Skinned left elbow gets covered in the possibility of weeping , but any major from it at the accident stopped before I took my jacket off.

scooperhsd, Glad to hear you're feeling better, that's a hell of a jolt to the body.. Not sure if this will help in your situation right now but I have a secret weapon to get rid of muscle cramping, once in awhile I'll get cramping at night from overdoing something.. I take a mineral salts blend product called BioPlasma, it comes in tiny barrel shaped pills, so I take the bottle and sprinkle 12-15 of them into the cap and throw them under my tongue to dissolve, literally within a few minutes the cramps subside and don't come back. It works every.single.time. and the taste is kind of chalky sweet. You can get them near anywhere, I think Walmart has them too. If it helps you I'd be thrilled to hear

I just figured out that my clutch switch that enables starting is not working - needs further investigation when I'm up to it. Bike still starts in Neutral, however. (Needed to move it over a bit from where friend parked it in the garage.)
So parts needed (maybe) - Clutch microswitch, starter interlock (maybe) Checking the screws that hold the radiator grill / trim piece with reflector replacement left front turn signal / running light stalk / assembly

So let me get this straight. The guy exited his Lincoln, came around to you to make sure you were okay then fled when you mentioned the LEO? And nobody there got a tag number? Have you called the police to see if anyone called it in without notifying you? Am glad you are okay...that's the main thing but sure would like to hear this POS gets his due.
