I posted an ad on Classifieds for a Solo Russell Day Long seat with less than 200 miles on it, and I am unpleasantly surprised by the lack of interest in it.
I would like for someone to enlighten me on the subject.

Used items are generally worth about half the price of new.

You seem to be asking just barely below cost for new.   A Russell Daylong is made specifically for an individual.  That narrows your market to riders that match your specs.

+1 doesn’t matter if it has 10 miles on it. It is used and as willow said made to fit you.

I think most cycle accessories selling used are about worth 1/2 the cost of brand new, IMO.    Not all, but most.  Something so costly as a nice near new seat though I presume would bring say 3/4th's the price of new if it fits the keester...    Shocked

I have bought hwy. pegs and windshields in near new condition for much less than 1/2 price of new since are more common accessories.

Been looking at buying a basic ATV accessory and this guy on craigslist must be smoking something for his price used even if in like new condition is actually just as much if not more than it is brand new.   I contacted him and he is firm on price yet there it sits unsold for 3 months now offering half price of new.

Needing snow tires for my SUV though and on craigslist recently bought a like new set of 18 inch blizzaks only tops 2000 miles on them still had nubs somewhat left set of 4 for 170 bucks vs. each tire would cost that brand new - snatched them up ASAP   cooldude

I hope I made it more appealing to the cheap crowd by lowering  the price to $300.00 plus shipping.
I'll keep you informed of the outcome.
Thanks for all the replies.

Consider putting that seat on eBay in the Spring.   Better timing and a World-wide market.  More likely to get the best price.
This is the best answer.  I had a RDL for the IS it was an excellent seat.  You need a much larger market.  eBay is the answer.

That looks like a good way to offend your potential market.  Calling people cheap who won't meet your higher than market price is no way to win friends and influence people.   Undecided   People buy used to save money.  That's not cheap.  That's just the way it is.

I hope you're able to sell your seat but you're into a choice by buyers of how much savings it's worth to buy from an individual with no guarantee or buy a custom made to fit seat from a known manufacturer with a reputation to back him up.

The ad in the Classifieds hasn't been changed.

Guys, Valkyrie owners are a tiny fraction of the motorcycle world.  And, a Valkyrie owner desiring a replacement seat is a small fraction of that.  Pricing is about supply and demand.  Chances are nobody wants to buy a seat right now.

I could not have said it any better than that. You're right on the money.

To be perfectly honest I don't really care about broken hearts or offended heads. Not under these circumstances.

I think everyone is on the right track about small market here, I would guess about 75% of the Valk riders I run into around here do not frequent this board.
There is a Honda mechanic near me that has over 300,000 miles on his Valk and has never been on the VRCC board. E-Bay or craigs list would reach more people I would think,
