I noticed the cycle tire more flickable as well while cornering vs. the old car tire that was on my 98 as well.
If I did over 5000 miles per year on it I would go car tire but 2-3000 miles tops per cycle per year, if that, no sense in a car tire IMO...
Yup, pretty much the same perspective here. Just not putting on the miles per year to really justify the car tire. Wife and I had a few years where we got to do some fairly epic trips and I was doing a lot of PGR missions so the miles added up quickly. Car tire was great for that kind of riding.
Got M/C tires on the bikes now. Do more in town riding than out on the highway particularly now with the virus thingy.
The handling has gone back to being a typical handling bike. Like you, if I was putting on 10k+ a year again, I'd consider going back to a car tire.
