Ever since I have owned my 2000  (15+ years) I have noticed that it seems to attract yellow jackets when I am sitting at a light or fuel stop.  Not in hordes or anything like that but a couple usually. I don't know if its dead insects on the windscreen or maybe the wax I use. (They only hang around the front)
My friend says it the color, bumblebee, and they are male hornets  Grin.
Weird but true.

They are attracted to the splattered guts from the other insects.  Its like a smorgasbord.

They could be mistaking yer Bee for their Queen, tho!   Wink

I worked for a highway department with yellow trucks and no A.C. years back. Almost guaranteed to get a stinging insect through the vent windows driving down the road.

If the bike has sat for a length of time could you have a small nest somewhere on the bike?

Lemon Pledge does it too.  The bees are so persistent at my place, I cannot use Pledge in springtime (without a hazmat suit).

True Jess, I started using Pledge on my VTX, and the bees were all over it. After the second sting I Put it back in the kitchen cabinet.

I used to use Lemon Pledge on my snowmobiles. Didn't have much of an insect problem with those, though. May have been the sub-freezing temps. Not sure.  Roll Eyes

Gary I'm getting bad flashbacks.  On temporary duty (USAF) in Germany, the motor pool gave me an old rusted out beater Hornet to use between Ramstein AB, Rhein-Main AB, and Kaiserslautern.  Had close to 200K, poor brakes, and at 55 the front end bounced around badly.  Captains rated the bottom of the pile.  I know it was a POS, because when I complained about it to the motor pool NCOIC (Chief) when I turned it back in, he admitted it was the last time it would be used and was going to the junk yard.  He laughed harder than I did.

Yours was probably nicer than the one they gave me.

You Damn Skippy on the Lemon Pledge. Detailed my 99 a few
years ago with it then went on a ride with some friends.
We stopped at a store in Taylorsville NC and my bike was the
main attraction for a few Yellow Jackets. One found it's way into
my shirt. Ain't nothing like a 350 pound man running around
a parking lot shirtless screaming every curse word known to man.
I believe some thought I was Possessed.    2funny

keep the bike dirty like mine and no problems with bees.  I just use on my windshield  soapy HOT water with old sock turned inside out and no insect problems besides the splats I get on the shield.  If i do not clean off my shield 2-3 x's each summer is hard to see out thru it for sure.

I never had this happen with any other bike I've owned.  I ride often so its not a nest. I'm not worried about it. The hornets don't bother  it's just curious.

Mine looked axactly like the one in the pic, same color, same vinyl top, but it only had 98,000 miles when I bought it and the quarter panels were rusting out.  Used to buy tires as needed from the junkyards by Shea stadium.  At one point, All the tires were 14", but the widths and sidewalls were all different sizes.  Good thing most of my driving was from one red light or stop sign to the next in good ole NYC.
