Watching the coverage last night of now Justice Barrett, the Kavanaugh hearing was mentioned a couple times which led me back to YouTube.

I found this excerpt from the Kavanaugh hearings, it’s Sen. Sasse exposing the Senate for what it has become and why their dependence on the Supreme Court is so vital. He really lets it all out and exposes how the Legislature now works...or doesn’t work.

This is just shy of 12 minutes but isn’t slow and boring. He moves quick on his points and lays it all out there and keeps it nonpartisan for the most part.

If you have the time watch it.

God , what a great statement from a Senator ! The people from Nebraska are fortunate to have a Senator who really understands how and why our Federal Government was setup the way it was supposed to operate.

In general he is a good senator above the run of the mill. I have family in Nebraska they say he is good but has his moments. He will play both sides of the fence when it fits his needs to get the most attention He is a politician.

Well I don't expect anybody to be perfect. I was commenting that was an excellent speech during Kavanaugh's confirmation hearing.

He slightly pulled the cover back on how the legislature has been circumventing their actual duties...for quite a long time.

Per the Daily Nebraskan ;

"I believe that, like most other politicians, the prime motivation for Ben Sasse is not to make America a better place. No, the reason he and other Republicans —  and even a fair number of Democrats —  run is power. As displayed by the recent hypocrisy of the Republican Senate in the handling of the Supreme Court hearings, Republican politicians, unlike their Democratic counterparts, will generally allow their desire for power override their desire to do the right thing. That is why the party that touts itself as morally superior has, with very little exception, backed the most immoral president in our nation’s history to the hilt.

While Senator Sasse may truly believe that President Trump is a godless bigot who trafficks in the language of hatred and white supremacy, his actions are not those of a man who believes that, but rather those of a man who will put power over principles."

Sounds about right to me.

The Daily Nebraskan is not familiar to me, are they perhaps a left wing publication? I find that most papers do have a left or right slant.

The most immoral President in our nations history? So exactly where does Bill Clinton fit in ?

I'm not familiar with them either. It has been said here that we should correctly attribute where we get info. I suspect it was an op-Ed to begin with. The point for me is, that Sasse wants to have it both ways. He admits Trump is immoral and without empathy, but he continues to support nearly every thing he does. Sounds pretty hypocritical to me.

I knew Sasse was not on “ the Trump train” as many would call it but he is well aware of the results Trump has produced. Many Republicans would have been much happier with Trump if he followed political norms. We haven’t had a President produce so much good for the American people while fighting for his own survival against the Democrats and yes some Republicans. As much as you hate (insert your own descriptor) Trump, I hope you can see the damage the Democrats have planned for our country given the opportunity. Your grandkids and mine are the ones who will pay a price for poor judgement now.

I’ll admit I have zero first hand knowledge of Sen.  Sasse or almost all of the members  of Congress, I had to point out and give credit where credit is due.

In that video Sen. Sasse points out where the Legislative Branch has gone wrong and simply not doing their jobs as they’re supposed to by simply passing the buck or kicking the can.

I don’t know whether or not you watched the video but he was straight, to the point and kept it very simple.

I think 8 states allow you to change your vote.

How sad that the 1st Amendment is being weaponized by big tech and the big 4 networks

Keep them barefoot in the winter and pregnant in the summer eh?

Yes, he did a good job at the Kavanaugh hearing. It is to bad Kavanaugh was being railroaded and we knew it but the other side did not care. His speech fell on deaf ears and hate filled minds. Such a shame not more of or all elected officials go by the constitution.

There are many things that are purposfully out of the norm for a good running society and these to orders help a bit to set things right. I wonder why no other president has done this?

We as parents, and citizens, have failed at holding society accountable for what is the truth, right and wrong. There are many examples but the school system, you get 2 to 3 times to pass a test. That is not right. Fail one time and live with it, you kid figure out what your going to do. Way to many cupcakes and girly men.
