Greeting and questioning
«

Hello
I am new to the forum, I come from Poland and I would like to greet everyone warmly.
I have a Honda Valkyrie 1800, 2014 with a mileage of 4000 km.
This is my first Goldwing why the gearbox is so loud. Shifting from 1-2 or 2-3 gears is like pounding.
Is it normal.
On a cold engine it is ok, but when the oil warms up, the gearbox is loud.
I use AMS MCT 10W30 engine oil.
Thank you and best regards

Welcome to our Board.
Goldwings and Valkyries have square cut transmission gears for strength and longevity, that work reliably in wet clutch bikes, for decades. But that does make them noisy.

Shortly after I bought my Valk new in 2014, I switched to full synthetic oil. The bike did shift smoother but it still had a pronounced clunk mostly from first to second gear. The more miles I put on the bike, the less I hear the clunk. Maybe I just got use to it.

I always roll my eyes when someone says that this oil or that
oil makes things better/quieter...
I've used a couple of different kinds of oil in my 2014 Valkyrie,
both good synthetic oils. I think this Mobil oil makes things
noticeably slicker and quieter

I wonder if the 10W30 viscosity is too thin. Who of you is using the AMS 10W30
