Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers . Just did a motorcycle trip with him up to Indiana back in September. He was put on a ventilator today. Damn the Chinese bastards that started this .

I have some good intel, that he is improving.  Vent O2 was able to be decreased.  They have him on Lasix and in a prone position to help with the pulmonary edema.  They were planning to start feeding him today through a gastric tube (Idk if that is nasogastric or a more invasive tube).

Prayers are being answered... keep it up!

Probably, but they said gastric tube, so I didn't want to assume.

Winghot's ventilator has been decreased to the lowest settings.  They attempted to wean this morning, but he started coughing and O2 sats dropped more than they wanted.  They were going to try again this afternoon.

Keep up the prayers and good thoughts!!

From yesterday:  Vent is down to 50% and PEEP 8.  They need to get down to 35% and 5 before attempting another weaning trial.  Large amounts of secretions are coming up (good thing, pneumonia breaking up).  He seems to be getting stronger; waking more, less sedation, and following commands.  They may try another weaning trial tomorrow (i.e. today).

I don't usually post on the General board, but if he's in UAB I have a close friend who works there. He'll be in good hands. Joe can PM me if he wishes.

ETA:

Just read the rest of the thread. Glad he's doing better.

This was posted yesterday on his wife’s Facebook page.

“UPDATE: Wayne passed the criteria this morning to come off the ventilator! They will be removing the vent at noon today and he will be placed on oxygen. He will remain in ICU at this time. He is alert. Praise God!!! We would like to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers and continued prayers. God hears our cries and we are so thankful and truly blessed.

UPDATE: Wayne is off the ventilator and now on a high flow nasal cannula. They are running some tests but otherwise doing good.”
