I decided to disassemble my full face helmet and give it a good cleaning, remove the pads and wash them as it was getting a funk smell. I usually spray the innards with Febreze and hang it out back on the fence to get the sweat dried out. When removing the inner shield I noticed a tail. It was a dead lizard deep inside the mechanism for the inner shield. While removing him with a scribe and forced air I found a large dragon fly looking winged beast lodged inside as well.
I ride with my full face shield open so I don't suffocate in Florida...that's what I get.
Helmets clean and the funk is gone, no wonder I was always smelling dead things Shocked

That's a new one.  And pretty funny too.   2funny

I suppose it's better the lizard was deceased, than crawl down your face riding along in traffic.

I found some spray that is meant for deodorizing hockey equipment that works great for the smell inside helmets. I’ve never removed the pads/liner in mine...although you’ve got me thinking maybe I should now.  Grin

That's funny right there I don't care who you are.  Reminds me of a story about one the guys at the phone company.  He got in his truck one day and rolled the windows down as they had no air conditioning back then.  Just as he was pulling out of the lot a snake dropped in his lap.

Wow. To think of dead creatures in my helmet. No thanks. I take those pads out every once in a while. And I do ride with the flip up in town when it’s hot. Maybe I veil clean it more often now cooldude
