are just a bit over the top.  In Dallas.

I mean, this can hardly be for the kids.

But points for realism anyway.

Apparently the police stopped by.  Several times.   Grin

This guy's about 200 yards from our house, the triplets love visiting them every year:

I just made a pass by there a few minutes ago, went for a different, but still terrifying aesthetic...

I think I will do that next year  (might just say NO candy next year)  since we had trick or treat Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and were told to leave the candy out on step for them to take due to Covid.  BIG mistake.  3 sets of kids (2 sets middle school age pushing age limit IMO and one 2 year old parents nowhere near him on street) took half my huge bowl of candy bars being kit kats, snickers, and take 5's, running out in 1 hour vs. having enough for all night.    The one set of older kids I did not catch, but 1st set of 4 saw grabbed one handful, then went back for 2nd handful and I went out and yelled at them telling them to put all the candy bars back and leave, pretty pissed off voice telling them they are old enough to know better and should be ashamed and do NOT do it EVER again.   The 2 year old never listened to me and parents heard me say put the 10 bars left back but of course parents just stood in the street 50 feet away doing nothing so shut lights off,  grabbed empty big bowl and said to other 8 kids while 2 year old took all the candy, sorry, ran out of candy due to selfish other kids.  Glad the parents heard me since gave them a shitty look as well as I slammed my front door. tickedoff

Kids nowadays are greedy and ungrateful so why bother they do not deserve candy.   Angry   Parents are even dumber and more pathetic than the kids panzies driving most of the kids around in 60K SUV's in a small town 1 mile wide tops, about 3 large blocks this side of town and 5 to 6 blocks other side of town.

Bad behavior by children (mostly too old to be playing) caused me to quit participating years ago.

Too bad because I really enjoyed the little ones having the most fun.

It's almost entirely a non event in my neighborhood anyway.

Even back in the 70s in Illinois Wife and I were VERY particular Where we took our Children trick or treating. We have at least one family here in Willow Springs that goes ALL OUT with decorations for halloween Thanksgiving and Christmas. Outside light off here in W S means NO CANDY Here. Shortly after the Youngest left the nest I quit handing out candy. RIDE SAFE.

I was pleasantly surprised, even with a self-serve setup, no one dumped the bowl in their bag or anything like that. Sure, a few took more than the 2 pieces the sign said to take, but no one really went crazy...

Had to refill the bowl a few times, but it was worth it.

Several houses in my neighborhood go all out, I rode the scooter around a bit grabbing a few pics:

One of the best:

(I particularly liked the centerpiece)

People lined up all down the street trick or treating, as well as to see the famous house I posted the video of above:

My humble little setup with the fog machine going, Tiki torches going. We're on the end of a cul-de-sac, most folks turn around before coming all the way out to my house but we still had a pretty decent turnout:

The most 1984 Halloween ever - My parents came over, I piped one of the surveillance cameras on the front of the house onto the TV in the living room, and we watched from there for most of the night...

And while barraging ya'll with pics from tonight, the triplets, my Air Force pilot, fire fighter and pirate princess all ready to go:

We combine all their candy into one bag, I weighed it.... Ten pounds.... Not a bad haul!

I quit with the candy routine also a few years back, got tired of the teenagers coming up and wanting treats. One kid decided to egg the car after my refusal but I was too quick for him, grabbed him by going out the side door, hauled him back and handed him a hose. He got the message...as did his peers.

this Halloween was the first time since we been married that we (my wife) didn't hand out candy to young ones.  DW decided that it was not worth the risk with the Virus plus she is slated for a minor operation this week.  She does have fun handing out candy and seeing what the kids are wearing.   Older ones around here are pretty respectful and don't cause problems.

I got band from handing out candy  while we were in WY.   Something about a bloody rubber knife, Hockey mask, and darken room.    2funny

Being the tall kid, I got sneered at even when I was still in elementary school for being too old to trick or treat, just based on my height, so I tend to give 'em a little slack, although I do draw the line at those who show up with a 5 o'clock shadow... Wink

I see it as the teenagers are out being kids instead of out partying, drinking, etc. They're choosing to be kids instead of irresponsible adults, and I'm okay with that.

good for you John.  I wish I would have grabbed 1 of the 3 kids who started to take 2 handfuls each of candy bars and dumped his entire bag into my bucket and tell them to share what the other 2 stole from the rest of the people handing out candy.  I bet I get a crying fest from 12 year olds.   Yah, do not trust kids anymore though I have 3 vehicles sitting outside in my driveway and 2 years ago when kid was in high school I was NOT happy about about having MY car (kid drove it to school)  written on with chalk or whatever it is on back and side windows.  When daughter in high school some 5 years ago my front crabapple tree got toilet papered.  Am sure both by kids in high school my kids knew.    They just be lucky they did it quietly since I am normally up still around midnight but no lights on and can easily run outside 20 feet away and catch them if I saw or heard someone outside would NOT have been a pretty site.
