So..... I've been saying it for years, and it's becoming more and more true every year.....
It used to be the left and the right in this country wanted to go to the same place but disagreed how best to get there.
That is no longer the case.
How long will it take until we're ready to sit down and have a sober discussion about a divorce so that those who wanna go over there can go over there, and those who wanna go over here can go over here?

VA is (amazingly) in play. Though all the networks called VA for Biden long ago, Trump has significantly lead all reported vote counts all night long. Now we're hearing that what is being reported is only today's voting and not all the early and absentee voting, which is showing to be heavily D (nationwide). Even my own pure blue Fairfax county has Biden up, but not by that much (7 percent, but not the usual 60).
But if all the early and absentee votes get reported later tonight, it may still flip us blue.
If we could go red for president (and senator) I will dance and sing naked on my roof.
It's a long shot, but at least it's possible.
At least we have picked up a few statehouse seats.

If we're not there, we're real close in my opinion. I wouldn't have a problem moving. I'd like to see that but have no idea how things would get split.

I volunteered to work the polls in my voting precinct yesterday. We were (almost) overwhelmed with the number of voters. Final tally showed that almost 82% of the registered voters came to vote yesterday (my understanding is that the norm is around 30 to 35%), that doesn't count mail in/absentee votes. Sheriff's deputies came to help control traffic. Congestion was the rule of the day. But, we got it done. The rules specifically state that no lobbying or political signage can be within 150 feet of the polling place, I had to ask several folks to remove Trump facemasks and MAGA hats and a few folks wearing Biden masks/pins. Only one gave me any grief about it. Claimed I was violating her rights to free speech. She eventually gave up and turned her mask inside out and covered her MAGA hat with an American flag looking scarf. I really do believe she was just testing the waters to see if she could get her mug on TV. To my knowledge, she didn't get her wish. What I did discover was that Mississippi has some beautiful voters. Yeah, I don't get out much. Rams

Voting for me in Westchester county, NY is always weird. I go to the polls and leave feeling great. I love voting and doing my part, however, I never pick the winner.
What always sucks is that several folks on the Left run unopposed. The previous congressional rep for me was Nita Lowey. Her voting record for more than 25 years has been straight down party lines. I have no idea what she was paid for as a machine could have done her job the way she did. Well, she finally retired and her replacement ran unopposed. Same for several local judge spots.
Terrible living in the largest market in the country where everyone votes against their best interests. They continually vote for high taxes, then complain. Vote to maintain crappy schools and no choices for students and parents, then complain. Instead of voting a different way, they vote the same way, and then complain.

Yes Gary. Voting for me, where I live, is just like standing on the windward high-side of the boat and taking a piss. It feels good to go, but it never tastes or smells that good when it's over.

Here in my neck of the woods, it's 80% Trump, but as of right now, it doesn't look all that good.
Wife and I are (were) planning on purchasing a new 2021 Ford F350 (Diesel) and a new Toy Hauler RV next March or April. If Trump wins, we'll be purchasing those; however, if Biden wins, it's not going to happen.

As I've said before, monitor any 401k or retirement accounts closely, keep your powder dry and watch your six. At least it appears the Senate may remain stable and the courts system is better off than it was four years ago. Edited: My understanding is that the Republicans actually picked up a few seats in the House. So, it's not all bad news. Rams

why you say that? Not knowing your full money situation, I say if you can even consider a F350 diesel new and new toy hauler both combined will be well over 100K, money is not much of an issue anymore? Sorta reminds me of my mother in law when SUV shopping this summer. I tried to help her finding the perfect vehicle she wanted being larger SUV, V6, AWD under 30K and came up with one but she said she cannot afford near 30K new and settled for a smaller 4 cylinder AWD SUV for 24-25K which is ONLY 5K more tops for what she really wanted which she can easily afford either. Then she bitches the 4 cylinder is o.k. but a tad bit louder on the hwy. vs. a V6 engine yet she got a very respectable and good 30 mpg hwy long trip recently with it which NO V6 AWD will get more like 26-27 mpg or so hwy. And yet she wanted the space of a larger SUV for what? Haul scraps to recycling center since she lives alone by herself 99.9% of her driving just herself being retired age 78? and she also complained it rode rougher on the road vs. a larger framed, heavier SUV, well duh, then spend 5K more tops and get the better what she wanted SUV to begin with. It really irked me when I called all over for that dark red SUV V6 AWD to dealerships within 200 mile range and found 2 left and 1 of the 2 dealers was willing to go down well below dealer invoice pricing around 28K much to my shock. yet, mother in law said even after willing to drive her down there to look, test drive, work out the numbers, on a Saturday all day affair saying due to COVID she did not want to take the risk of getting sick over it.

Since you asked, yes, the F350 and the toy hauler will be a VERY large investment for us. If we had $100K+ laying around to pay cash for them, it wouldn't be a big deal. But, because we would have to finance both, those payments would be somewhere around $1,200 (hopefully). Now I have to add that the plan is to have the big ticket item (the truck) paid off before I retire which will hopefully be about 5 or 6 years. While I'm still working, this is doable; however, If "Mr. I'm going to ban fracking and phase out oil and gas" is our President, the cost of fuel will most likely be at least 3 to 4 times higher in a couple of years. Once we're on a fixed income, there's no way we'll be able to afford $6 to $8 a gallon fuel costs in order to be able to use it. Now add the Jimmy Carter like inflation to the economy that those outrageous fuel prices will cause. Especially to those on a fixed income. It would be foolish to not consider this when thinking about investing that much $$$$. As much as I would love to have them, after considering this, it no longer seems like a good idea to invest that much money into something that in all likelihood we won't be able to use very often.

I didn't say that oil and gas would "go away" in the next few years. I said that the cost of fuel would likely increase 3 to 4 times. The first thing that's going to happen once they ban fracking and begin to "phase out" oil and gas is the price of oil will skyrocket. Especially once we are no longer an "Energy Exporter" and once again have to rely on OPEC for our energy needs.

The point I am trying to make is that, regardless of who gets elected market forces are going to be the driver for at least the next 20 years. As a recent happy retiree I would hate to see someone give up their plans over politics.
