Form the website below spoken by Congressman Chip Roy (R-TX).

As Americans, we are fully capable of determining our own safety precautions necessary to celebrate Thanksgiving with family. More importantly, we have the right to do so despite proclamations by mini-dictators in cities and states across the country. Threats of fines and even jail time are coming in as the authoritarians feel threatened by any celebrations that are not held to bolster their so-called president-elect, so they want us to continue to cower in our homes and hold Zoom meetings instead of gathering in person.

We must push back against these draconian tactics. We are Americans with freedoms bestowed on us by our Creator and guaranteed by the Constitution. To claim otherwise in the face of an underwhelming pandemic is ludicrous prima facie, and we need to treat it with the same disrespect our Democratic leaders offer to us.

It’s time to stand up to the despotic decrees. Many already have. Thanksgiving is a time for family and fellowship. Just because many in government want us living in fear doesn’t mean we have to comply.

My family gathering (Wife and me hosting in KC, siblings / spouses / fiance, kids of ours) will be the 2nd Sunday after thanksgiving. I plan on deep frying 2 turkeys for us, and we will have to see what else will be coming / prepped (I wouldn't be surprised if we do a good bit if it). Thanksgiving day - either the wife, me and MIL will have one here, or maybe we will be going over to friends of ours for dinner.

Notice - we are NOT cowering in our homes, separated from each other. Someday, I hope to get re-acquainted with my Sister's future in-Laws (they lived 2 doors from us as we were growing up.) Bob is a fine man, has a good job at the reformatory (yes the local Hutchinson prison), where so far, he's been lucky and has avoided the Covid.

Update for those that might live in Chicago, IL.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) on Thursday issued a stay-at-home advisory and called on residents to cancel their “traditional” Thanksgiving plans as part of an effort to combat the spread of coronavirus.

Lightfoot announced advisory will take effect on Monday, November 16th, and will last 30 days. The mayor urged residents to avoid traveling, hosting house guests, or leaving their resident for non-essential business.

– Stay home unless for essential reasons
– Stop having guests over—including family members you do not live with
– Avoid non-essential travel
– Cancel traditional Thanksgiving plans

K M A to all those who would impose their Will on my Holiday

We are free or we are not

IMHO We will celebrate as only We determine is proper.

Otherwise we are not free

We do however add ZOOM call to any who are unwilling to join with us.  Passover we had people from over a dozen different locations around the world who could not fly in, and some seniors who were stuck at home.

last year was an odd Thanksgiving just me and the misses with her mom at her house is all without my kids both working retail at the time.  This year due to pandemic my mother in law was thinking she would want to spend turkey day with our kids in Eau Claire, but she said is best NOT since fear of catching Covid both work in the public daily and she lives in fear of it.    So, I guess me and the misses spend the day with our kids up there while mother in law stays home?

I cannot imagine having a HUGE family never had that experience as an adult trying to get all together let alone for me just immediate 2 kids, wife and mother in law.

I always dreaded going to grandma/pa's at Christmas as a kid growing up where almost all my aunts/uncles came to gather to drink, smoke, play cards and get into arguments being one of a few grandkids at the time older since most of my other mom's younger sisters/brothers had no kids or very young kids at the time, one of about 4 grandkids who showed up old enough to remember it anyways.  I liked to see grandma she was always funny and nice, but the aunts/uncles not so much.  Now, about 1/2 have passed already in their 50's and 60's and very early 70's and soon a few more to follow am sure in next few years.   Now, the only time I ever see my aunts/uncles is when one passes at a funeral since have been pallbearer one too many times.   Cry

It seems as we age, in my own experience, that huge family gatherings are not happening nearly as much as when we were kids, we all going our separate ways more so.   My kids when younger did not mind too much going to my mom/dad's house with my older brother and his older kids but once Dad passed in 2008,  that stopped as well with either my mom going to my house or my brothers house for Christmas/Thanksgiving.

We have two daughters, one is married one is not.  We have one grandson.  I have a brother and sister.

When I was growing up, we spent Thanksgiving at home.  All of our family relatives lived up north.  It was just family.

Every year, Dad and Mom would take us three kids on a road trip to their homes.  We would spend several nights in my mother's father's nice house in Mohnton, PA, my father's father's house in Allentown and we would visit aunts and uncles in Kutztown,  and I forget the other two towns.

It was all fun.  There was stuff to do. Church Street in Mohnton was very steep but at the bottom of the hill was a small Hobby Shop.  Allentown was not as much fun but still I could explore as a kid.  It was safe.

My Aunts had a house with an old German "jeep" type vehicle in the back yard.

I saw my first movie alone at a movie theater there, Singing in the Rain.

We visited the farm, watched cattle being milked explored the woods.

But, that was just for those two weeks each years.  Later, when dad had more time off, we would go visit at Christmas as well.  And we would almost always take the Ferry across the Chesapeake Bay.

But I was never bored. I never regretted the trips, in fact, if memory serves, I looked forward to them.  My dad's father and a very nice "attic" with all kinds of stuff for a young boy to explore.

But, for us, my wife and I, we will visit my bother who lives about 30 miles away.  My wife's family is, like my mom and dad's were, up north but in Minnesota, not Pennsylvania.  It will be a sort of normal gathering, probably 10 or 12 people.

My oldest daughter will be visiting with her husband's family, she will be here for Christmas.

We have no concerns about the virus, other than it exists and is a communicable disease.  We try and live healthy lives, don't have any conditions that makes any of us more vulnerable to the disease.

Growing up in Round Lake Il. Thanksgiving was generally at Mom and Dad's house. I remember there was the adult table and the kids table. Our small house was Full on Thanksgiving. Mom and Dad had prior marriages and with the exception of their respective exes we generally all got along. But as we grew up had our own Famlies things tended as they always do-change. I am going North for Thanksgiving with FAMILY Brother and Sister in Law and Nieces and Nephews and we already KNOW it Will be a Big Party! And I fer one am Looking Forward to being with FAMILY again!  cooldude I also recall spending long Saturdays visiting Family in Chicago when it was still same what safe to do so. Least ways flirtin with 76 year I am able to recall those times!  2funny RIDE SAFE.

It still amazes me the number of folks scared to death of this virus, good friends even. They are still pretty much still under lockdown and keep bringing up the news reporting the huge increases in infections.
Personally I don't see it from my little confined world. I've spend quite a bit of time in hospitals recently and enjoy talking to all the doctors and especially the nurses. According to them it seems the news reports just ain't right.
So, Are we about to change our habits ? Nope. Our group keeps growing and our holiday plans are made and not about to change.

In most places that have limited thanksgiving it’s to 6-10 people. However, most places allow 30 people for a funeral. So, don’t plan a thanksgiving meal...plan a funeral for Mr turkey. Then everyone can come.

Thanksgiving has been moved from my mothers home to my house this year. I’ll go get her and take her back if she doesn’t back out on me. It will be her choice because the media has her very worried about the virus and her vulnerability at 92. If she doesn’t come I’ll be making a trip to her house the next day, no way we’re not having a Thanksgiving meal together after 50+ years of going home for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We all have to assess the risks, and do feels prudent. Ours will be like the last 20 years near enough. Maybe a couple more than usual. We have been pretty good at staying pretty much to family. It's likely to sneak in one of these days though. Here is a story for thought.

this is what Gov. Evers in WI wants us all to do is stay HOME for Thanksgiving and Christmas and NOT visit relatives but curl up in a ball and STAY HOME ALONE.    Came right out of his mouth recently pleaded with Wisconsinites to STAY HOME.    Tell that to the businesses and workers clinging to survive already..   tickedoff

I was told the risks before I ventured out on the flight deck the first time. I was told the risks of cat shots and arrested landings the first time. I Still participated. I Will also Participate on Thanksgiving day.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

My brother and his wife have quarantined them selves in their condo indefinitely.  They both took LOA's from their jobs and sit at home I imagine staring at each other.  They are both high risk, obese with sever diabetes.  If they don't end up killing each other I'll be surprised.

My wife and I have essential jobs even though we've both retired, my wife on a covid ward.  We've been working through this whole China caused mess and I figure if my daughter and my grandkids want to come and have turkey with us their more than welcome.  This over fear mongering is starting to anger me.

Every one have a happy turkey day!

You and I know it is all about "POWER".   The power to control who, what and when.

Once the power is accepted it will be used again and again.  Its training for the masses.

And, if you look at post on social media such as FaceBook, its working. It is amazing the numbest of comments supporting lock downs.

THIS!  /\ /\ /\ /\  This is the real truth.   Angry
Some wouldn't know real truth if it slapped them in the face.

Yes, but I'm giving you a helping hand.  My sympathies are certainly with you and with anyone who has those limited capabilities.   Smiley

LOL!  Reality is by definition what it is and not a matter of taste.

I apologize for anything I've done to make you sure I'll come around.  I am strongly convinced you are incorrect.   Smiley
