top 10 best places to retire which I do NOT believe Madison WI is #1.   Unless you are culturally diverse and like to go to artsy stuff, I do not see it even in top 100 as best places to retire and live.  Crime is going up as in most major cities, and mainly property taxes are HIGH.  Same house in Madison WI property tax wise is near 2K more than in a smaller town nearby some 30 miles away such as myself.  My mother in law has lived there all her adult life and even she does not feel too safe living alone by herself age 78 even locks the darn front door when I am in there standing right next to the door only going to stay 5-10 minutes to begin with.  She even got upset (near mad) at me for keeping my car running last year since I had to drop something off before work one day to her for ONLY 1 minute outside by front door talking to her 10 feet away from my car running in her driveway for fear of teenagers now stealing running cars  jumping in and driving off going for a joy ride then ditching the cars.

If you look at the stats of the top 10,  Madison WI has the least amount of sunshine days per year (for us who ride cycles) and the lowest elderly retirement population probably because older people are moving OUT of Madison instead.

I wonder how much Madison WI reps paid to get on this list even as #1?

In the picture of the older guy on skateboard in the article,  I wonder if any of us still skateboard like that older guy with gray beard in the article?

That's a tough one to wrap my mind around. Something was left out of that equation. Probably not in my top 100 choices.

I know something about many of those places and this list is crap.

I think this is useless matrix to use, lack of racial diversity. Don't want to break to you but since the beginning of time racial diversity has never been a good thing. For you religiously inclined it's even in the Bible. Everywhere in the world where that you have a bunch of groups come together they fight for their group to be in charge. Not a white thing. It's just what happens, there is no happy racially diverse place anywhere in the world.
