When I was a kid in small town Minnesota, the roads didn't get plowed until it stopped snowing and sometimes it took them a day to get to you after it stopped. A couple of sacks of feed in the back of the truck got you through if you needed to get out. If you got stuck you were and idiot.
Can't remember who said it but "We suffer today from sever prosperity and our children are paying the price."
wish the plow would NOT go thru at all pushing 2 feet of snow at the end of my driveway so early so have to get out and get it done so early just let the darn stuff melt or how about like said waiting until it stops snowing the next day or so. Also, why go up/down our street 6x's? I think if they left few feet OUT away from our driveway would be best right NO shoveling out the end of our driveway so much? The guy who retired plowing snow in our town, neighbor down the street \, use to be smart reversing his direction going on the wrong side of the road and put his plow outward coming into each driveway, then back to the curb so well over 1/2 the snowpile would be gone off everyone's driveway.
told my kids same thing about something about prosperity ruining kids nowadays basically telling them neither would have been able to survive if went back in time 40 years ago growing up in the say 1970's. Although am sure same can be said for my generation growing up in 1970's if it was 1920-1940's each generation had it easier and easier in terms of life in general.
