Probably the best military (wartime) drama ever made.  Almost 20 years ago now.

While sitting in the chair burping turkey gravy all day.

The greatest generation.  Back when we had a country full of great Americans.

Time to get the Garand out.

I watched the whole series back when it came out on HBO (if I'm remembering that correctly). I liked it so much that I bought the DVD set so I could revisit it whenever I felt the need.

We watch it every year on Rememberance Day.  cooldude

Do yourself a favour and read Stephen Ambrose book that it was based on. Then read his book “The Wild Blue” about the B-24 crews. Then read Undaunted Courage about Lewis and Clark. Fantastic author.

We bought the DVD box set for my dad years ago. Sat down and watched it with him a couple of times. When he passed away last year I got the box. Watched it a few months later with my wife. Very powerful movie.

Today's kids need to watch that series. Especially the episode when they find the concentration camp since so many of them have no idea what happened to the Jewish people under the nazi's.

IMO, thee best WWII wartime drama ever made. I really liked including the real soldiers of the 506 and hearing facts. Really wish I could have watched this with my Father. I think he would of liked it. Would have liked to hear his opinion. He died the year before. We were able to see "Saving Private Ryan" together. He said, that was the most accurate portrayal of D-Day he had ever seen.

I have not read "The Wild Blue", but I can vouch for and recommend the other two. "Undaunted Courage" is an incredible read.

Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it!

I had never seen this before. When I noticed that all the episodes were on the History channel yesterday I decided to recorded them. I started watching it, and I could not stop. I watched the entire thing, ending at about midnight.

I feet that it was a great drama, showing the best generation our country has ever had.
