In light of some recent threads that I've seen here, I did a quick search.  Judging by the results, the rule about showing respect for POTUS only applies if POTUS is of the same political party as the moderator.  I'm quite sure I could not get away with a nickname for our current POTUS like these, although I could think of several.

Why must you instigate crap like this. Of course the leaders of this board are going to be more bias one way. This is s privately owned message board and you liberals come in and think you can cry and get stuff changed.  Stop crying and deal with it or leave.  The moderators don't owe you any explanation for anything so get over yourself.

Not crying.  Just pointing out that "respect for the office" has little to nothing to do with whether or not a comment is allowed.  As we are about to enter another presidential term, I wonder if the rules as applied to Trump will apply to Biden if he is sworn in?  Or, will it be like the examples above, during the Obama administration.

I think it's a valid point to make and a valid question to ask.  If you disagree, well... so be it.

We actually started the policy during Obama administration, late 2015 or early 2016.  There were likely many that happened before the policy.  And as I've said before, we can't see everything, some are missed.  If you don't bother to report it, don't complain about it later (I've updated the ROTR to reflect that).  As far as Hillary, she was never POTUS.  However, we've recently extended the policy to those whom others in a thread support, as that is disrespectful to those members.

A historical analysis is not helpful.   What's done is done, and can't be undone.  (whatever it was)

What is helpful is to read and follow the rules the best you/we can.... going forward.

So go in peace, and sin no more (the best you can).  It's all we can do.

I am not the light of the world.... and neither are you.

P.S. I looked at the searches to which you referred (except Hildabeast).  Almost all of the posts were 2015 and earlier (a few in early 2016).  Those newer than that fell primarily into these 3 categories:
  • 1. Posts complaining about the names
  • 2. Posts that quoted a deleted post
  • 3. Posts in threads that had been locked

Context is important.  I really wish when people play these "gotcha" games, they would look at the posts in their search results.  Yes, we did miss some, but mostly if they were quoted from a deleted post.

My god, can't you just let it go?

I'm sure if you wanted to find it you could find liberal members during the Bush years that had nothing good to say about him. But then you wouldn't be offended then would you? I swear liberals just constantly look for ways to be offended. Now you're just sounding like a bunch of whinny babies.

 GET OVER IT...JEEZ.

Okay, I'm tired enough of this to be really pissed.  Take that into account or one of the other moderators may need to moderate my post.

I never said anything about respect to POTUS.  I posted in 2018 that I saw reason to interpret demeaning pet names for public figures that are supported by a number of our members as disrespectful, specifically to those supporting members.  The Rules of the Road call for respectful and courteous communication.  Based upon that rule I stated I would begin removing posts that contain demeaning pet names referring to public figures supported by a number of our members.  I did not commit to going back to finding all such posts from the past.  That was in 2018.  Obviously those references to President Obama occurred before 2018.

I try my hardest to apply administration evenly.  People who hold similar political values to mine will be able to easily tell you that when they have stepped out of line I have removed their post.

If anyone feels I am being unfair he may PM me personally in a civil manner and I can choose to engage in conversation or ignore the accusation.  If you are so dissatisfied with how the board(s) are administered that you feel it necessary to publicly stir up crap by posting your accusation on the board then I will be pleased to see you go play on someone else's playground.

At this point I no longer consider it necessary to defend myself from attacks on the way I moderate.  I'm done with this!   Angry

While you did say that in 2018, in late 2015 or early 2016, we discussed not allowing disrespect of a sitting POTUS.  I'm pretty sure you posted it at that time... I could be wrong.

I tried to find where you posted that, but I can't narrow it down enough.  However, I did find this from Dec. 2012:

You'll excuse me for making this observation, but because I took that same oath (of course, I did it as a U.S. Marine.  I don't suppose others may have taken it in the environment of such high standards) I will not refer to the President of the United States by distorted, demeaning names.  I will disagree vehemently with his policies and his world view, but as long as he is the duly elected holder of the office I will render him the respect that office is due.

I can almost imagine what would have happened in the Corps if one of my peers would have excused his disrespect for a superior officer with the explanation that respect was to be earned.

There's a scene in the Band of Brothers series in which Major Winters is snubbed by an officer who had previously been his senior.  He calls the gentleman out and requiring the salute repeats, "We salute the rank, not the man."

I have a deep admiration for the men of that generation.

Okay.  Down off the soapbox ...  for now.   Smiley
