Not a Valkyrie but still a Honda. My first new bike my Dad
got me in 1977 was a XL75. Cool ride for a 13 year old.
Damn sure beat peddling that bicycle.

My first bike at 15 was a 1970 Honda CB 175. It was blue and white painted with house paint with a brush. I stripped it and gave it a respectable  paint job. I rode that thing a lot

My first road bike, about a year before I ended up buying my first Valk, wanted to see if this motorcycling thing was for me, so bought a cheap 1980 Yamaha XS11 Special for $750 and beat it up for a year first...

My first "real" street bike, a brand new 1978 Yamaha 650 Special. Already had a car  (69 Firebird) and a truck ('76 Chevy) so I needed to extend my bank loans a bit more with a new bike. It was alright for about a year until all the guys at the foundry I worked and rode with started buying HD' s. I remember seeing a picture someone took of me riding the 650 and I looked like Serk on his 1100 on his photo posted here... way too big for the bike. Sold it and started my love/hate relationship with my good old AMF HD.

My first bike was 6 months used 1970 BSA 650 Lightning (no original pics except in my HS yearbooK).  It seemed huge at the time (17).

 

Later, when I raced the first CB750 X 4 Honda I ever saw, he blew my doors off so bad, I had to get me one of those.

But when a buddy later let me ride his new Yami XS1100 Special, that was the fastest bike I'd ever ridden up to that time.  

Way back when we first had enough money for our second (old) cars for mom, she pained them with a four inch brush and can of paint.  This covered a lot of rust, but it was kind of embarrassing being seen in them (though it beat the hell out of walking).  The cardboard on the rear seat floor pans kept the muddy puddle and rain water off our school shoes.

Dang ! You were a better MX’r than I ever was. I was lucky to do one with my feet on the pegs, leaning forward. I started with a Suzuki 90. It wasn’t a great wheelie bike. Being a rotary valve, it had an unbalanced carb and valve hanging off the right. Like you, I have few pics of then. I’m very happy to have this one with my sister. Does my helmet make me look spodie ? (We called them spuds)

I was as slow an MXr as any of the folks here who've been
stuck behind me in the twisties might think  Wink ...

I was a pretty good wheelie doer and back when we had
access to gnarly single-track with BIG hills, I could roll
up them pretty well... if I thought there were still places
to ride I'd probably buy a KTM 500 and go break my neck!

My buddy Lance Hendrix had a Suzuki 90 and his dad too...
Lance had the one with a knob to turn so that it went into
some kind of low range gear ratio...

During the Japanese invasion of the 60s I vowed to never a 'jap' bike. I've had quite a medley over the years. Long story short. We were in Lake Placid hanging around in '97 and along came a herd of Wings swishing past. I paid no attention until this crazy black and chrome thing bringing up the rear went snarling past doing a pretty good Porsche impression. I started running after it and I wasn't built for running even back then. By the time I got to the muni parking lot and a second away from a major coronary they were walking away so I just started drooling over that monster. I had no idea what a Valkyrie was but knew I had to get one. When I figured out it was a Honda I had to swallow hard. But I went looking for one and the rest is history. Best motorbike I've had.

Yes, that was mine also. TC90. A dual range 4 speed transmission. It wasn't very practical. The low range was way too low. Hardly ever used it. The TS series were much more practical with a regular 5 speed.

used 1984 honda magna was age 18 in 1988 kept thru 1998 sold it regretfully for 1500 bucks still would be worth 1500 bucks today am sure...   uglystupid2  big mistake selling it my kid age 19 now,  born year 2000, could have had it for FREE since he also owns (well I paid for 1) two honda magnas a 1997 and 1985.   Never liked the vtwin crowd not even the honda shadow back then always preferred 4 cylinders over 2.   4 better than 2,  6 better than 4 now for me, although I do own both a single cylinder and 2 cylinder scooter.  I like the 249cc single cylinder since the handlebars rumble (well vibrate) at idle just slightly just like a HD and go HD hunting on it, well up to 70 mph at least, much past that and engine gets a little buzzy tops at 78....  2funny     I have taken it a few times in 65 mph speed zones doing 70 and everyone looks at me like what is in that thing what appears to be a much smaller scooter than it is mostly because I am so big on it.   coolsmiley
