What a life.  What a stud.  97 years old.

The right stuff, indeed.

My hero
Having flown the F-104 Starfighter myself for many years, Chuck remains an icon in aviation history.
If you have a chance and haven't seen it yet, the movie 'The Right Stuff' is a must
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElzIPn1pXWE]

Trailer is crap, movie is great and tells the story of countless unknown airforce test pilots risking their lifes on a regular basis in violent crashes of airplanes and the first astronauts whose main job was just to sit tight in the capsule.   99% boredom, 1% terror. The latter became heroes and the A/F pilots are all forgotten, except Chuck Yeager.

A true American hero and legend.   We should all live with his vigor and courage.   There are still some out there with his lust for life and adventure.   He will be missed.   Cry

Back when men had balls.  It was a common belief that the sound barrier was unbreakable and many died trying to prove otherwise.  It takes a special kind of courage to look at the crashed aircraft, the dead pilots, the general feeling that it couldn't be done and say. "Hell, let me have a crack at it."

Ride Safe,
