Started doing some work on the trike since the temps were in the 40's. By using 2-3 infrared heaters I can get the garage warmed up to shirtsleeve comfort. First thing I did was remove the Corbin side covers off the old bike, transfer the mountings to the trike, then fire up the compressor so I could grind down the back edges to clear the trike framework. Definitely trial and error, grind a bit then test fit, grind a bit more and repeat until they go on without issues. The interference came from the area of the two bolts just forward of the corider footpegs. Those two bolts, one above the other, is where the trike frame is bolted in place at the bottom. I had modified the covers when first mounted on the old bike to clear the bottom of those two bolts. However when you added the thickness of the trike frame which appears to be at least 1/4" thick, now the cover just rocked up and down. Although a bit dusty from grinding the fiberglass, they now fit fine; first picture.

Next I decided to begin the process of replacing the belts and t/w with a 4 deg. wheel. Removing the radiator pods was a learning experience since they have the foglights installed. That's when I found the cobbled up wiring the PO did to the fog light switch. The switch had apparently failed so he just peeled back some insulation and wired them so they are on all the time. Due to splicing, etc., I'm not certain just how they're wired but I want them back to original so if anyone has a wiring diagram for the Honda fog light installation I'd appreciate a copy. Prior to positioning the timing after pulling the cover, I pulled the plugs...only to find they were only slightly more than finger tight. I put a torque wrench on one prior to removing it and found it and all the others were well below the specified torque setting which is 12 ft.lbs. if memory serves. Frankly, I'm surprised he didn't blow a couple out they were so loose. After removing the plugs, it was obvious there's a major leak at the union of the intakes and the cylinder head. Some worse than others.

When I swap the newly rebuilt carbs from the old bike to the trike, obviously the leakage issues wil be addressed. I'll be desmogging it in the process and adding a cruise control. Included in the "swap" program is the front wheel/tire & front fender off the old bike. My tire is in much better shape than the one on the trike. I'll also include the rebuilt front calipers & pads and the front fender which has some painting done by The Mountain Man at InZane #3. Once the carbs are in place, the chrome engine hangers from the old bike will be installed, followed by the chrome tranny covers and alternator cover which isn't bubbled...all coming off the old bike. Then I have to decide what I'm going to do about the handlbars. I installed 1 1/4" bars on the old bike and ran all the wiring inside. I'll have to see if it's possible to adapt the wiring to the I/S wiring, might take some head scratching but I've done stuff like that in the past....a couple times adapted Harley controls/wiring to the Honda harness. Just have to see how it goes. I need to research how to pull the fairing to facilitate any wiring changes, and also want to change the headlights over the LED. All in due time. I'll get it done if we have enough warmer weather, otherwise sometime after Easter.  Can't use a gas heater since it's an apartment building....guess it's a state law per the manager.

Those intake runner O rings have been leaking for years. Remember to use Viton O rings.

John, you got your hands full. But I am sure you will enjoy it when it is finished. cooldude

Repairing someone else's neglect is no fun. Repairing someone else's butchery is no fun. When you have to do both, it really can suck. That cold garage got you ready as ever to move back in the southerly direction? I know mine does.

Yes, I'd love to move back south if I could find a place I could afford. Right now it appears to be a seller's market, maybe things will loosen up a bit next year. Just hope it won't be too late healthwise.
