Everything I look at on the Social Security site comes out an "action" file when I download it and I can't seem to find a way to open and convert it so as to forward to a loan officer. I'm working on a home loan and that type of file won't transfer since they can't open it either. I'm running W-10 in case that makes a difference. These people are driving me nuts, they want a copy of the last 2 yrs. of SS awards letters. I told them they have copies of the 1099's which matches the deposits in my bank, the letters tell them the very same thing the 1099's do. Getting to be a real PITA.

Another sign of the times. Money laundering is such a big business that banks and other lenders are required to see your X-rays before they can lend you money. I went through this two years ago went buying our current house. I had never had to jump through so many hoops in my life. It seems even if you have a substantial amount of cash on hand to put with the loan , you have to be able to prove where it came from.

Sorry I can’t help with the action file question.

Got it to open Adobe Reader and saved as PDF. Has a funny extension now, comes up as xxx.action.PDF but opens fine. Strange stuff.

Got the extension backwards, it's:  xxx.pdf.action but still opens in Adobe Reader.
