Many times I’ve stated today’s journalism is a far cry from what it was many years ago. This morning reminded me of that once again when I read an article on Newsmax. The article centered on the stimulus package and folks losing their unemployment benefits. I’m not going to argue the pros and cons of that at the moment, the focus is the reporting itself and the content of the article.

This is the article;
https://www.newsmax.com/headline/virus-outbreak-trump-congress/2020/12/27/id/1003206/

In the article, the main discussion as I described above, but included is a quote of President Trump from a Tweet which says “cut the pork”, but the writer fails to include anything from The President’s side of the issue and why he’s not signing it. Instead of giving both sides of the story, the writer’s main focus is the issue of people and UI benefits, not the reasons for President Trump to push back against it. There is no list of pork issues described which The President is fighting so the people can understand the why to it all.

All this is is another hit piece against President Trump.

I can’t remember which grade I was in, either 7th or 8th but we had journalism as part of our English class where we spent 1 trimester learning the nuances of proper journalism and some of its history. It was boring at times but we were taught quite a bit. As you can tell I never became a journalist but those few months have stayed with me throughout the years.

Pork has been tied to so many bills throughout our history, so much wasted money thrown out the window. This is something President Trump was and still is against.

I there is to be a “relief bill for the people” then it should be presented on its own, not wrapped into a conglomeration of other crap and called something it’s not.

No kidding.

The pork is enough to buy one or more small countries, lock stock and barrel.

The Covid relief is a very small percentage of the pork.

But all you hear is Trump is an asshole and hates the working man because he won't sign the relief (because of the pork).

Mainstream (and social) media is simply an enemy of the people.  Using the first amendment as a sword, instead of a shield, to subvert a nation.

He had 4 years to cut the pork. Now while tens of thousands are hungry without benefits he decides to do something. Yes, asshole is very accurate. I’m sure this will get pulled.

If you really paid attention during the 4 years he fought pork the entire time. Yes there was and as in all politics deal making and compromise is a part of the ritual.

The original relief bill was fought over also because of additional crap added into it such as bailout money for states who can’t control their spending and have huge deficits such as NJ and NY.

And besides, with all the funding that the democrat cities are cutting from their police departments, they shouldn't need more money.  Its like they gave themselves a big raise.

It’s a shame those who wrote the bills find it necessary to hide, bury and disguise things in their bill which are promoted as something completely different and when those hidden gems are called out to be removed the main title or “proposed concept” of the bill is brought back into play as being held hostage or shot down.

Where do we send our donations to help you with the thousands you feed? I think it is outstanding that you have started such a program!

Is this something you yourself started or is it part of an existing effort?

Has anyone seen a complete list of each "pork" bill attached to this and who sponsored each one or inserted it into the bill?  Just curious....I've heard of various bills but never seem to hear a name attached to who was behind it or seen a complete list of the bills and amounts for each one.

I'm sure the political elite know who sponsored what part of that bill. If the Congress would actually pass a "COVID RELIEF BILL" with no extra crap tacked on DJT would probably sign it.

Trump is on the golf course more than he is in the White House, he has little to nothing to do with the relief bill, and at the 11th hour he wants to be the hero and claim to want a $2000 dollar package. He has done nothing to help in putting the package together, instead turns his back on the country for the past 4 weeks and cried about the election which he lost. He has not mentioned the thousands of people lost to covid, not mentioned the bombing in Nashville, has done nothing to put Putin in his place. The list goes on and you all still love this moron.

So you support the ridiculous wasteful spending in the "relief" package, refuse to see the crock that it is, and want to start a war with Russia.

And Trump is bad?

And then this man went out to his garage to look at his
2 Valkyries. On the way a dog barked at him and right
after that a cat hissed at him and tried to bite him.
He made it inside to look at his bikes when he thought
Damn I am hungry and looked up on the counter and
saw a can of pork and beans he had stashed there a few
weeks before. They were good as Hell. Next someone
knocked on the building door and tried to sell him some
stale potato chips..He said no and finally sat down in his
Coleman camping chair and admired his bikes for a while.
Life was good.

Regardless of what you think, you helped pay for the gender study issues in Pakistan.

John

The president said Sunday that along with signing the bill, he will invoke the 1974 Impoundment Control Act to demand “rescissions” be made to the spending measures. Under the Act, if the president wants to spend less money than Congress provided for a particular program, he can seek congressional approval to rescind by sending a special message to Congress identifying the amount he proposes to rescind, reasons for it, and the economic effects of the rescission.

“I will sign the Omnibus and Covid package with a strong message that makes clear to Congress that wasteful items need to be removed. I will send back to Congress a redlined version, item by item, accompanied by the formal rescission request to Congress insisting that those funds be removed from the bill,” he said.

Trump also noted that the House will vote to increase direct payments to $2,000 per person and $5,200 for a family of four on Monday, and that the Senate will also start the process for a vote.

Did he have a choice?  The fact that he wanted more for us proves to me that he cares more for US then the Democrats and even the Republicans. The Republicans don't have the balls to stand up to the evil democrats. Never have.

So are you OK with congress giving billions and in some cases Trillions of dollars to other countries and only giving hurting Americans the scraps? Because let's face it. $600 is scraps when it comes to this pork filled bill. Is your hatred for Donald Trump so great that you think this BS is great as long as Trump is gone? You sir are NO conservative no matter how much you lie to yourself and everyone on this board....
