Riding the Twisted Sisters!!

Waco, TX

« on: December 30, 2020, 02:42:11 PM »

I live in Waco and am needing a good reliable mechanic to work on my 2000 Valkyrie.  I will trailer it pretty much anywhere within about 200 miles which means the DFW, Austin and Houston areas are all in play.

I believe it is hydrolocked and don't have the time/desire to do the work myself.

Any recommendations appreciated.

Hi SC!

One quick thing you could do to determine if you have hydrolock is to remove the spark plugs and turn her over.  If there is fuel in one or more of the cylinders because of hydrolock, you'll have gasoline shooting out of the spark plug hole or holes.

Two primary things can cause hydrolock...a bad petcock assembly (including the cover set), or a stuck carburetor float.

I don't know of any good techs in my area -- I'm just southwest of Austin near Driftwood -- not that there aren't any good techs nearby, I just happen to do all my own work.

You can also contact Big BF.  He's the resident traveling Valkyrie guru.  If he's in the Texas area, I would highly recommend him.  (You may be able to find Big BF on Facebook.)

Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have any questions...

Big BF, Bill Ferguson, is arriving in Austin today (Jan 26th) to work on my bike.  He mentioned yesterday that he had two appointments set up to work on Valk's here locally.  Late yesterday he mentioned the other appt he had sold their bike and cancelled, and asked if I could put the word out of his availability.  His plan is to be in the area for a week or so.  Call or text me at 512-four31-nine554 and I'll pass your info on to him when he arrives later today.
