So many colors to choose from yet so few stand out

Covington, TN

« on: January 14, 2021, 11:13:36 AM »

OK folks, have had a few calls reference the schedule of events.   So, I'll let you all know what I told them.

Friday:  Kick Stands up at 1800 hours at Red Lion for dinner at Stricks BBQ.   We may ask folks to divide up into smaller groups leaving 10 minutes apart but, that'll depend on the numbers.   Order what you want and have a seat.

Saturday:  Kick Stands Up at 0900 for anyone wanting to follow local riders to the LS Memorial.   I'm not in charge of that one, David and Mac are the Dudes In Charge.

Saturday evening is tire kicking and whatever you want to do with whoever you want to do it with.   This was/is intended and advertised as A Meet, Greet and Eat.   I'm hoping to have a few surprises for you when you all get here.   Oh Yeah, the Lying Contest will be throughout the event.  Wink  We shall see.   Of course, everything is subject to change on a whim.   Evil
Like sands through the hour glass, so go the days of our lives.    2funny

The Hattiesburg Valkyrie Riders will be hosting a Meet, Greet and Eat on April 2nd, 3rd and 4th of 2021.

Although some things are still in the planning stages, the Ground Zero Hotel has been determined and I wanted to put that out there.

Red Lion Hotel
4301 Hardy Street
Hattiesburg, MS 39402

Phone # 601-264-8080

I negotiated a discounted rate of $60.00 + tax per night.  To get that discounted rate, be sure to tell them you are with Mississippi Madness.

There may or may not be COVID-19 restrictions at that time so, some things are undetermined at this point but, there will be lies told, tire kicking, meeting new friends, reacquainting with old ones, and some form of kick ass food for this.

We will have local riders who don't mind if some of you would like follow them to tour around some to the curvy, twisting roads in this area or, maybe you want to go to the coast and dip yer toes in the gulf.   Doesn't matter, it's planned to be a good time just to get back together.

I need to keep an updated list of who is coming for meal purposes.   Please feel free to invite any Valkyrie riders using what ever form of communication you use but, please make sure they know to contact me.   Have to plan for the number of meals also U know.

Political discussions will be directed to back behind the chicken shed.  Wink
Please note that this event is planned for Easter weekend.  Please consider that upfront.

There should be no problem with folks getting what they want to eat at Strick's BBQ, pretty sure all will get what they want and get their fill.

Would love to do it but it's a bit over 1,000 miles one way. Have to see what's shaking by then but doubtful. It would be a rather long shakedown cruise for me and the new to me trike.

Ron,

With all the usual caveats, I have made reservations at the Red Lion, and I do plan to be there. Hope it works out, as a good time is sure to be had! So many good folks in that immediate area specifically, but so many more all around, that it cannot fail to please! I do like it a bunch in your adopted new area, and I always look forward to returning for a visit... If for no other reason, it would still be worth the trip just to see which means of transportation Danny will choose to come see us!!! Really looking forward to this...!!!

Yes, that is in the original posting.   I have now gone back and bolded and underlined that particular edit.
I take personal blame for decision, the date selection was totally mine but, it was the best weekend that I could make it work.   Friday is ride in day Meet and Greet, Saturday is ride and Eat day, Sunday is a travel home day.   The numbers may not be as high due to that but, if anyone shows up, we'll consider it a success.  A date for next year may be different but, it had to start sometime.

Rams

Sorry must have overlooked it in the OP.  I am going to try and make it work, but will have to wait and see.  Thanks for your effort in putting it together, I understand how sometimes you just have to do whatever it takes.

I've done it several times in 10.5 hours.  Wink
Distance and other priorities are keeping me from attending Gig's Yooper Ride, would love to go again but not this year.

So, I do understand.   Hopefully we'll get together some day, looking forward to meeting you.

Rams

Considering the frequency I need to stop for human needs, even speeding along at 85 (which will make me stop and fill up more frequently) will drag my speed down. 12 hours it is for me.

Yes - I would like to meet more Valk riders, but Carl and me haven't met up yet (and we can't be more than 30 miles apart !).

Preston,

I for one, but actually one of a great many, am mighty glad to see this! You always add something special to any gathering whenever you show up, so... I'm starting to get really reeved-up about this event... Appears Ron has stumbled upon a winning idea for sure! I'll likely still be in celebration mode then, so... care to join me in hoisting a few? Yeah, I already know the answer to that!!!   cheers

Thanks for the kind words my friend!

I was really looking forward to this ride last year and kick-off to the Spring season with a meet and greet of truly great friends. Unfortunately, the Covid Cooties put a hampering on the "plans."

Joe May and I will be splitting living quarters again... Spring weather dependent for the Joe, as his truck driving services may be needed to restore power due to extreme storms in the southeast. He truly does "ride around and help people."

looking forward to a beverage and sharing of stories Bruce!  cooldude

Ron,

Your mention of a cookout unlike any you've seen before... well, that got me thinking. OK, and it does give rise to a twinge of worry about potential adverse gastro-intestinal reactions to... mmmm, more exotic fare...  Lots of stuff that at another time in history or another corner of the globe might have been considered a staple or even a delicacy; however... I mean no offence whatsoever, but it is not impossible you might spot yours truly ducking-out and meandering over to one of the really nice BBQ places in that area... I'll try to be discrete and not obvious, of course, so as not to draw any others away, if I do...

Just kidding, ol' bud... Heck, I'm getting rather excited (not to mention hungry!) the closer your shindig draws to us!!! Now that I've been incarcerated for two months, my pent-up demand is even greater than it ordinarily would have been! As far as the food goes, bring it on! I may not finish it, but I guarantee I will at least try it!!! I do have a suspicion, though, it will be downright fanciful and mighty tasty! So, after giving your chain a wee yank, am I still invited?

Ron,

My true aim here was simply to bump this thread to the top of the page... and definitely not to compound the cuisine conundrum anxiety! It really doesn't matter to me what we wind up having available to eat... or even if we wind-up with anything at all. I'm a big boy used to finding grub in 'away places', so I'm confident neither I nor anyone else will go hungry. Besides, just as you stated, all of this is really about other things than simply going somewhere to eat!!! BTW, thanks a gazillion for putting this on! Fabulous excuse to go for a long ride and jaw some with old and new pals!!!

We'll be there!
I just made reservations for the Big Bus at Okatoma RV Resort.
Karen and I should arrive around lunchtime on Friday the 2nd. We'll probably ride to Ground Zero as soon as we get the camp set up.
Even though I grew up in North Mississippi and went to State, this still feels like coming home!
Thanks for putting this on.
