Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

I'm rebuilding a 99 Interstate. I like the super Valk look and have heard that someone has designed a quick 'Trunk removal kit' or concept.
If anyone knows of this, or could point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it.

As well, I really like the Corbin gunslinger seat. I'm thinking of asking if they will make it with the studded Dual Tour stitching & lower panels (the flaps).
Anyone had a problem mounting a solo seat on the Interstate? Any other great Solo seats, for the Valk?

Best regards,

Glenn Schentag

If you don't want to cut slots in the trunk mounting brackets (ala Big BF) you can cut the studs off your fender struts and have them  tapped with threads.  I would recommend having a machinist do the work because the mounting points on the struts are angled and the metal is difficult to drill.

Thanks for the help.
That is what I was looking for.
I think I will go with cutting the brackets, as I have them already and can do that with the tools I have.

With respect to the seat. I like the Stinger look.

Hate to say it partner, but it will take a whole lot of getting used to it...

My experience, they are harder than a box of bricks.   But, all butts don't set the same, so you just might like it.

If your needing a passenger backrest after you slot your trunk for easy removal, here is a pic of what someone else did. He did an awesome fab and chrome job on these brackets.

Here is a pic of my 97 Valk with the stinger seat on it. Haven't been on a long ride with it yet but I like the look.

For riding double I throw on this different Corbin seat that has a socket in the back of it for plugging in a removble backrest. On my Interstate I put on the Std/Tourer fender rails and use the Hondaline backrest but of course it is a major deal to put the trunk back on which I haven't missed yet but I am sure I will eventually have to do the "Quick Change " slots in the trunk rails like you are considering.

Here is the I/S with the Ultimate seat on it, not a bad Solo look either in my opinion.

By the way, the previous pics I posted of the 97, that is a an Interstate tank on it as well.

Great looking bikes Mirion!
I think Solo Interstates look great; the look and feel of a personal chariot.

Cheers,
