It seldom rains here. I'm pretty used to it now, but the first couple years here were kind of weird. Anyways, I'm out cutting flooring for the motorhome and I feel a couple sprinkles. I look up, and sure enough there are clouds  Shocked I gazed around trying to figure out if it was going to get worse, and did I need to get the table saw all the way back in the garage. It didn't look too bad, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out how the wind was blowing 15mph to the east, but the clouds were moving 60mph to the west. These people that figure weather formations are descended from medicine men, I'm sure.  Smiley

How high were the clouds? Wind direction changes a few degrees as altitude increases. Go high enough and you can have a 90 degree or greater wind direction as well as speed...due to the lack of friction at the surface. Stuff you learn in pilot's ground school. Then when you start flying it's...son of a gun, it's true.  Wink

If you have any connections with a shaman or medicine man, please send him up here as the situation to your north is bordering on a drought that would have brought the natives to roll up their teepees and ride off to damper climates.
No rain, no snow, no nothin' on the Western Slope for too many months and now stretching into years.  Jeopardy, big time, in the foreseeable future.

The spousal unit could tell you all about the different wind speeds and directions at different altitudes, she's got an app that tracks it. Good to know when skydiving, don't wanna accidentally float to Oklahoma or something.

Also, not only does it sometimes rain in Arizona, from time to time it even rains down in Africa...

Before launch hot air balloonists release small party size balloons so they can which way the breeze/wind is blowing at different heights.

Geez, you got hot air balloonists going up, Serk has skydivers coming down all because of a bunch of wind.
