My valuation guesstimate...$11,500.00  I'm no Wing expert, just a guess.

I like the colors.  cooldude A couple strategically placed Dallas Cowboy stars would be "bon apetit". 24k is hardly anything. (I don't know the value though)  Undecided

I guess that would work but I was thinking more of UK blue! I like the color but it wouldn’t necessarily be my first choice.

Asking price seems to be pretty firm @ $9999.00. I guess I must be on the fence about investing $10k in a bike right now? I didn’t even test ride it, owner says he has a bit of interest going on the bike but in a week or two if he still has it that could change.

Price seems fair, if that's what someone is looking for it'll probably be scooped up quick with low miles for a 9 year old wing. Heck some put those miles on in a year.

Do helmets fit in the saddlebag / trunk?

Definitely in the trunk, saddlebags questionable if at all.

Of course prices vary around the country but that seems like a very good deal.  Even private sales of 2012 model years are commonly asking $12,000-$14,000.

It’s bikes like this that adds to my indecision about what to do.

That’s an 05 with 35k miles for $2k less that is one of my favorite colors. No heated seats or grips and of course 7 years older. It at the top of the blue book value for an 05. I have some concern for resale value on any bike I might buy since you never know when you might have to “hang up your chaps”.  When I was younger a decision like this was easy peasy.

Conversely, I would say a 2005 at $8000 is anything but a deal.  I see a lot of 2001-2005 with that mileage more in the $5000-$6000 range.  A 2006-2010 with decent mileage is usually $6500-$10,000.

If you would be happy with a 2005 (and no reason not to be!) and indecisive about depreciation, I would shop around and find a similar bike for $6000.  They're out there.

The 05’s in that mileage range have all been that high or higher in my searches the best deal price mileage wise I have seen was an 03 under 50k miles and I think sold for $4300.00. Once I make a buying decision, I’m sure the deal of the century will come along.

Personally, I wouldn't buy anything under 2014 as that is when the transmission fixes occurred. That also gets you out of the older models with cracked frames, overheating issues, etc.

Surely, those aren’t “common” issues??? I like the idea of the latest and greatest but that comes at a cost too. I appreciate your insight though too. I guess I have more research to do. I have never talked to anyone with transmission problems or overheating, but I don’t get out much.

Overheating and frame issues on earlier 1800 models...friends of mine had both of these issues back in the day. I've not heard any GW owners I know mention the tranny issues...I've just always heard that anything newer than 2007 was what to look for if buying used.

Just for comparison-sake, that same 2012 model and colour is currently for sale here with similar miles (it's a US bike) at a local dealer listed at $16,000 ... depending on the daily exchange rate, about $12,000 USD.

If I were to buy a newer Goldwing, it would be this one...in this colour.

But at 20 grand, that ain't happening. Good thing I'm nowhere near the stage where I'm wanting to give up my Valk as my main ride yet...prices on used motorcycles are decidedly more expensive here than in most places in the US. It's frustrating at times when I see all the great deals on 1500 Valks in particular down there. Maybe that's a good thing, otherwise I wouldn't have any room to work or putter in my garage with a bunch of other bikes filling it up. I'm quite pleased with my "new" $2500 '78 GL1000 addition...doesn't take up a lot of space and was easy on the pocketbook.

The comments over in the GL1800 board seem to indicate the blue bike is a fair price.

I can’t seem to find it, but my hesitation cost me that deal, someone else is riding that bike today.

So there are 13 years of GL1800’s with problems?
