If the Honda Valkyrie had never been built, what motorcycle manufacturer's bike would you be riding? Undecided

Much like "It's a Wonderful Life":  IT NEVER EXISTED! There is no basis for considering comparisons; you have no knowledge of what the name Valkyrie means in the world of motorcycling. Huh?

I doubt it would have lasted this long, but I was down to either the Valk or a Suzuki Bandit 1200, and was leaning towards the Bandit until I fell into one of those incredible deals on a brand new in the crate '98 Valkyrie in December of 2000...

Some other Honda Smiley - I have never owned another brand of motorcycle. Not that there is anything wrong with other brands....

I was a Yamaha guy. I definitely would not have switched to Honda. I’d be on a Yamaha still

I owned three GoldWings prior to the Valk. Probably those. Rocket 3 tugged at me. Road King was on my list when I found my first Valk.  Cool

I would build one. And only one for ME!

Probably would have stayed with a Honda of some sort.
Had an 1100 ACE Shadow. Traded that for Valk #1.
Likely be looking at Goldwings by now.

When I kicked air cooled V twins to the curb, I wanted at least 4 cylinders and water cooled.  And it had to be a bagger/dresser.  There weren't many choices.  And I really did not like the Yami Venture at all.

And if I had been thinking, I would have added fuel injection.  But then there would have been no choices.

Since I was looking for a newer Goldwing when I discovered the Valkyrie, I would most likely be riding a Goldwing.

Tough to answer that question, my last bike prior to my Valkyrie was a KZ1000.

When it went to another's garage, I said at that time that if I ever bought another, I wanted a Valkyrie so, I have no idea what would have been in second place.

Never considered anything else.

Of course once you’re used to a flat six a Vtwin is a downgrade. But if there never was a Valkyrie I’d probably be on something like this. The Yamaha Vtwins are pretty nice machines

Before I got my Valkyrie there was a Harley rotting away in the shed.
Does that count as "riding"?

I was riding a Vulcan before the Valkyrie.  I have no idea what I would be riding now.

Anything but a HD, I rented 2 in FL in 1999.

One left me on the side of Rte 4 outside of Orlando and the replacement just about rattled my teeth fillings out.

I was considering the BMW 1200C when I saw the salt flat cross up on tv.

Called my buddy Andy who just happened to own a Honda Dealership and I never looked at anything else.

21 years later and there still ain't anything else to look at. IMHO.

around 2007 or so when I got the Valk I/S I was deciding between that and a VTX1800 and 1998 or so year honda goldwing so 1 of those 2 probably.   I also liked the look and heard good things about the victory cross country tourer.

I have had several Honda's.   I did have a 1100 shadow spirit before  Valk came in to my life.   I probably would still have it or may traded up to a 1300.

Cool question, that I can’t definitively answer. Of that era, I remember liking some of the bigger bore standard bikes, like the Suzuki gs bandit. Also liked the HD electric glide standard, and the dyna convertible. Back then, HD’s were fetching over there MSRP, plus you often had to order and wait a month or more. So no thanks. I remember riding my fxrt past a kwik fill where someone was gassing up a Valkyrie std. I thought, that SOB’s for me! Happy with my 99 since. Post 1st gen Valkyrie’s, I would like a F6b, or whatever the stripped gold wing is called. Actually not real up on what’s out there these days, just happy with what I got.

Probably one of these. Bought this after trading off my 1st Valk.
Didn't take long to know I liked the Valkyrie way better than the
VTX. The F6B looks interesting. Glad Valks were made I likes em.

Well, here's a little different answer - if not for the Valk, I might not be riding at all!!

I rode dirt bikes in my youth, started at about age 6. I bought a Yamaha XS650 when I was 18, sold it 2 years later when one more close call told me I was too stupid to ride a street bike. Dirt riding had kinda' faded away by then......

FF to 1997 "dirt drifting" commercial. Valk was the baddest thing I'd ever seen on 2 wheels. Also the only bike that ever made me Want. One. Bad. Even now, nothing being built new has that effect on me.
Finally bought one of the new 1998 leftovers in March 2001 - happy 40th birthday to me!

After 20 years without, now I have 2 Valks, a CBX, and a Suzuki DR650.

So, thanks Honda for renewing my interest habit - otherwise my old Yamaha may well have been my first, last, and only street bike!!

I had never seen a Valkyrie when I was looking at bikes, I was looking at the new 1800 VTX and the dealer asked me why that bike? I told him I didn't want to look stupid on a small bike, or look like I was on a moped. He told me to follow him to the used bikes and I started to complain I wanted a new bike.....then he showed me a 1998 Valkyrie Standard with a tourer windshield...I bought it that day and after three Valkyries, Ive switched to  the Honda F6b and I love it, but it doesn't have the classy look as the Valks, but damn it rides better and the fuel injection is a plus for me because I am not that mechanically inclined.

It would either still be my VT1100T (Shadow Tourer), but I would suspect it wouldn't have the Valk trunk on it.

Or an 1500 Goldwing.
