Coming Attractions…

Jan has no affiliation nor any connection at all of which I'm aware with the folks at the cozy little bistro-bar in Cloudcroft, NM, where Big Wolf and I found this sign. She does, however, offer essentially the same services! I plan to indulge soon at Jan's Beach Bar & Grill just down the road here in good ole Montgomery, AL... maybe even soon at that other establishment out in the 'Land Of Entrapment', too...

The stools at Jan’s haven from mundane reality are among my very favorite viewing platforms for making wildlife observations, and that other party venue does display some unmistakable signs of potential, also. You can bet the farm, however, that there is some imminent pursuit of merriment during a cheerful relief celebration very much in order and long overdue for this not-so-much-lately rider!!!

In spite of the grave peril of lapsing back into the ‘planning’ mode of operation trap inherent in taking such a risk, I am still cautiously allowing myself to think ahead just a little… Not so much to lay out an efficient schedule or itemized list of priorities, but more to simply bolster my sagging enthusiasm… See, the daily treatment routines drone on, the shear monotony continues unabated, the perpetual inconvenience of it all never lets up… well, the whole thing is a major league downer… There is a brighter side, however!

Yep, next Wednesday I should receive my final of thirty-eight treatments (including make-ups) in this sequence, anyway, but hopefully forever: Only time will tell on that, but… It is encouraging to think about a near-term end, though, and to ponder a hearty party next week in celebration, plus to indulge a few fantasies of all the probable coming attractions! First things first… Continue with the unpleasantness for now. Second, conjure-up images and recollections of previous fun episodes at Jan’s sanctuary for confused souls. Also, dare to permit my thoughts to drift towards our girl and her companion heading off… in some direction… towards somewhere, anywhere, out yonder…

Well, I already know what the target of my very first road trip will likely be… Troutdude’s hacienda and bike-care center. Yep, ALI needs a rear end service and general going over to see if any new developments have arisen. It will also be very nice simply to visit with some mighty fine folks… especially without any overhanging negativity. That might not be our very first actual scoot, however…

Nope, I’m going to also need to hang around central Florida for a modest but an as yet unknown period of days or weeks to do some relationship maintenance… It shouldn’t take very long, however, as I do tend to grate on folk’s nerves in fairly short order with my mere presence. Yep, a week or two at most, then anybody would be happy to encourage our girl and this incurable gypsy to get back at it!

It seems my landlady has been dealing with her own set of issues lately, so she needs some company, an empathetic ear, and a little out of the ordinary activity… plus, she has a B-day coming up in two weeks or so… She is a wonderful and generous person, and she most assuredly deserves no less from the likes of this unworthy but most grateful beneficiary of her half century association.

That, of course, would increase the likelihood of a few short day-rides before any foray over to Bayou country materializes… Like, for instance, an always pleasant jog over to Newberry for some sensational BBQ; although, I am determined to try their pork chop offering on my very next visit! Plenty of other wonderful options are available, as well, but mostly the mere thought of something other than dealing with all that has consumed me the last couple of months is most welcome indeed! PTA!!!

No doubt that the light is beginning to shine in the end of that tunnel!  CB and I are planning to be at Jan’s for that celebration and will certainly hoist one to the beginnings of the next chapters of “the bug killer” out on adventure.

I remember that sign!  We were having a late brunch there if I remember right.

I'm very glad this "adventure" is coming to an end for you next week. You've been out of practice, baby steps my friend, baby steps. I really wish I could make it there to join in. I look forward to hearing about it. I hope your "landlady" is not in any peril. I know she means a lot to you. Take care and enjoy the festivities next week.  cooldude

By any chance is the Newberry of your post NOT in the U P of Michigan?

I would not go over the Mac in this kind of snowy weather myself

Best wishes for pralines in your future

Jerry,

Yep, that light is shinning ever brighter with each new day! I just hope it isn't a moving target! Dang, I will be so very glad to be through this ordeal... Yeppers, that's the place, time, and event... I also seem  to recall some sort of Mexican dish for brunch, as well... Nice banter exchanged with some locals there, also... Glad you and Mural will be here to help me put a proper ending punctuation to this... you know. Come thirsty!

Ron,

Happy to have you along! It has helped me a bunch to write about my experience... it not only aids with the passage of time, it helps me keep things in perspective and continue to hold some degree of hope for a conclusion, too. Pretty darned reassuring to know others read my attempts at expression... some even profess to enjoy it! Thanks for your always encouraging replies, calls, and conversations!

Rob,

Thanks, my friend... for the advice and comments! Yessiree, baby steps for sure! I now have so much accumulated skill rust, I just may require some tutoring even on how to stand her up and find the start button! I'm pretty sure I won't be able to resist the compulsion to write about my experiences once our girl and her rider re-enter the world at large... Yes indeed, my landlady does mean a great deal to me. Nothing life-threatening or majorly serious going on with her, just age creeping up on her like it is for all of us... And, loneliness more than anything else seems to be especially difficult for her to accommodate over the long term... One of the things we do not have in common... I appreciate your insights and sensitivity to some of the nuances at work here...

Evan,

No indeed! The Newberry I refer to is in central Florida about 50 miles or so northwest of Ocala! No, I wouldn't attempt the 'Big Mac Bridge' this time of year either! Heck, it's exceedingly rare to see this relative fair-weather rider venture north of Interstate 40 during winter!!! I haven't mentioned anything about pralines to Sheila other than to thank her for the last batch she brought me... well, and to spontaneously brag about them from time to time. I do have my fingers crossed, though, anytime I swing by their place! That usually pays off handsomely, too! Looking forward to that delightful possibility in the very near future!

Connie,

WOW! A voice from the distant past! Please send my warmest regards back at him for me!!! One of the most amazing discoveries for this pseudo-loner is just what a warm and close family riders truly are! I meet folks constantly, and many times those folks turn out to be important friends, more often just distant kin rarely seen or heard from, but still with the bonds of close friendship and affection. I found all of that while seeking the solitude I'd thought was my destiny! Simply amazing! Thanks for passing the message along...

Wink Countdown.....  Cool Fantastic Bruce. What a great feeling that must be. I know right where Jan's Beach House Grill is located. When I'm working Montgomery I'll stay at the Drury Inn just south by 1-65. I'm actually going to be in Bham this week and if it works out I'd be good to meet for lunch on Tuesday on my way up Huh? I'll text you and maybe it will work out?
If not after you head home to visit your LandLady, then coming back my way on your way Dennis, if you need a stop over, you know the invite stands.  Wink

Keith,

I'd truly enjoy meeting you and jawin' some... again! You are another of those good friends I've stumbled across due to some rather amazing and totally out of the blue circumstances... I'm very glad it all happened, though, and I look forward to more meet-ups down the road.

I hate to sound like a poo-poo-head, but mid-days are awkward for me... While my treatments themselves only last fifteen minutes or so, I spend all morning right up until arrival there engaged in prep routines and a rather strict schedule... I'm afraid any deviation would be risky, especially for the next to last treatment... So, with extreme regrets, I will likely be unable to meet you... I am sorry for that!

As for the other possibilities, who knows? I deeply appreciate the open-ended offers, and I do hope to again meet-up with you on my way through. Not sure how things might play out when I head for Dennis' center of amazing bike experiences, but... I'll try to stay in touch... I'm not really big on details in advance, ya know...   Wink
