I've been Blessed in more ways than I can count. Young Single Mom across the street from me made me smile the other day. Went out to check my mail and on my mail box was a bag from a local grocery store. Took the bag in and inside the shopping bag was an 8 pak of Orville Redenbacher's micro wave pop corn pre salted and pre buttered. Also a 14.5 oz can of Planters deluxe Pistachio Mix. Now I KNOW this young Lady has a tough road as she Is raising a Daughter and a Son-both young-on her own. So today I picked up while doing my shopping two boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios and a Gal of milk and took that over to them. And found out the transmission on her pickup truck along with the battery have crapped out. Heard when it rains it pours sometimes. Before I went shopping in West Plains I stopped at one of my Favorite resturants for breakfast. And A Married Waitress I've been cuttin up with since I've retired. She gives as good as she gits. Danged hard to git ahead of her. As I headed to a booth two young ladies were in the booth behind me and thanked me for My Service as I had on my Nam Vet ball cap. And neither young lady was wearing a mask! And I made mention of the fact that it was a mooslim ploy to git Our Beautiful American Ladies to cover their faces. And we didn't exchange another word til they left after they had finished their meal. I had put the last bite into my mouth when Laurie-My Waitress-picked the check up from my table and went over to another table to take another order. When she started away I said can you spare me a moment? She came over and I asked what's the deal on my check? And Laurie informed me that those two Young Ladies had paid my check! Had NEVER even met either one of those Young Ladies before in my life. Cell phone battery snacks and my breakfast tab picked up. I Am Truly BLESSED! Thank You GOD! Gives me a Lot of Faith in the younger folks here bouts these days!

There's a dude that walks his dogs past my garage when I'm training, he's 88 years old and has the best way about him you can imagine, I love to chat with him about nothing. He told me he's running a 5k race in a couple weeks which blew me away, his wife has some Alzheimers and he takes care of her. Great guy with a great attitude and I'm always happy to see him.

There are still some good young ones. Lately I have been thanked. On veterans day someone paid for our meals. I guess there is some change in the young-uns that does not show as often as it should. I am not referring to them paying , but just be courteous.
I am for helping with a go fund me for the neighbor , but my brother will go talk to her so as not to embarrass the young lady.

Dennis, good for you. You & Ross know my Toni, she said something a few days ago that touched this old man's heart. We were texting as to our whereabouts at the moment, I asked if she had eaten lunch yet and added I'm upset with myself because I hadn't really accomplished anything yet that day. She suggested Olive Garden for soup 'n salad so that's where we met. When I walked in, she was sitting at the entrance...took my arm and told me "you've been busy enough the last 7 years so relax today and have lunch on me. Tomorrow is another day and if not, you're paid in full daddy." I had to step into the men's room for a couple minutes! What really pleases me, her three kids are much the same.

Nice story O2S...and John Schmidt. I'm a firm believer that for the most part, one gets treated with the same amount of respect that they have given others throughout their lives. Obviously you've both been on the giving end enough that you're now receiving it back in kind. I think there's plenty of good young'uns around these days...just as many as there were when I/we was/were one. Unfortunately, it's the not so respectful ones that seem to get themselves noticed most of the time these days. Growing up we were taught to respect our elders, and for me it was always just a natural thing to do. Even in my late teens when I first heard this song, I got it and felt the message, as I always seemed to engage and befriend "older" folk. Now that I'm and "older folk", the song still resonates strongly with me...just from the opposite perspective that it used to https://youtu.be/OVhA01J0Zsg

Similar or not. The left bow on my eye glasses puked the spring that holds it together at the flex joint. crap. Was gonna J B weld it but da prez sez go to wally wurld and see what they can do fer ya. But the place that did my eye exam last month comes before wally wurld. So I stopped in. Did NOT want new glasses yet as I Will Need new ones after cataract surgery and just need to limp along til then. So one of the Young Lady Techs takes my glasses into the lab and only comes out a bit later to tell me they do Not have a matching frame! crap again. And She tells me-I am Not done give me a bit more time please which I say okey dokey to. Bout 40 minutes later she comes out with 2 new but not matching bows and asks is this alright? To which I reply-Honey I am Not that fashion concious. And after some minor fitting of the new bows I ask reaching fer my wallet-how much do I owe please? To which She replies-No Charge have a nice day! Kewl. But She also Knows after my cataract surgery I Will be back for another exam and new glasses but Still Very Kewl! Again More Blessings! Maybe just MAYBE I should buy a lottery ticket? nah. RIDE SAFE.

I think it is your good looks that keep the young ladies keep coming back for me. I beeped my truck horn behind 2 teenagers in mommy/daddys vehicle texting when the light turned green for 10 seconds later neither paying attention at all to their surroundings. All I got was the middle finger by both of them as I blew by them.
