They're saying we might get down to -7 (Fahrenheit, not that left wing C commie crap thing either) sometime in the next few days here in Texas..... Ya'll's weather is drunk making a nuisance of itself in my yard, please come pick it up!

(I've seen this one with a few different states/provinces in the place of MA, but this was the first one I found tonight.)

No I believe that is where 20/59 splits from 65 going south.
Reason I say that is it shows Tuscaloosa bound traffic heading to the right witch would lead me to believe those vehicles are headed south. Though I could be wrong.
Could be a bypass as I see a 4 on the sign as in 459.

I don't believe I have ever in my LIFE seen anything approaching -10F - which it is supposed to do Sunday AM for the LOW.

Hey T-Man - is that C or F ? Nevermind, both are too damn cold for me Smiley

As kids, we used to go ice skating off the island out on frozen lake Erie.

Zero degrees, with 40 knot winds (we made home made sails to go fast).  Wind chill was murder.

When the ice broke up into chunks, we'd get on canoe size chunks with long poles and push around inside the docks, and use the poles to knock each other off into the water (like jousting).

Parents inside thinking hey the kids are just out playing and getting some exercise.

Now, when it's nasty, I don't even go to the mailbox.

Celcius/Centigrade is hardly "commie crap". Using 0 as the freezing point then + or - from there makes a he** of a lot more sense than 32 being the freezing point. Smiley
I grew up with Fahrenheit before Canada switched over to metric. I tell ya, if I could've started out in grade one learning distances,  weights, volume, temperatures,  etc simply by using multiples of ten, zero starting points, and moving a decimal back and forth rather than trying to remember all those other  odd ball #'s, my parents would've been a whole lot happier about my Math and Science grades back then Grin  I still use a bit of a mix of both, but temperatures are strictly in Celcius.

Back to the topic at hand...up until this week here in my neck of the woods, temps this Winter had not reached lows below freezing (that would be 0  Grin) and I had been riding my bikes every week. Finally the other day we hit a low of -5, which is reasonably cold for here, but that would be considered  beach weather for my friend Beardo in Saskatchewan as well as  T-man in Calgary and most others in Canada at this time of year. My eldest daughter moved into their new house this week up in Fort St John BC, about 12 hours North of me...they braved temps of -51 with the wind chill factor...Ouch!! Did you know that F and C become the same at -40°?

Terry,

That pretty much sums it up for this delicate rose petal, too!!! Holy icesickles, Batman!!! Love your wings up there, and I even tolerate PBR rather well... Hockey? Not so much... but then, I wasn't born to it either... As for the folks who choose to live in all of that, well, I might question y'all's judgement on that, I must admit it just don't get no better nowhere else!!! I'm gonna try to recollect fondly about my visits up yonder... while ignoring any weather references!!!

DDT

P.S. Keep yer stick on the ice and the puck outa yer teeth, my friend!!!

I was driving a tow truck for my dad in the early 80's, one day it was -26 F and the wind chill was -81 F. I had a service call list of 100 people who couldn't get running, our lot was full so I couldn't pull any cars back to the shop. I was instructed to leave the generator running, throw the cables on and see if the car would start, if not it was on to the next one. No messing with starting fluid.. or choke.. no nuttin. Tech back then wasn't as good in extreme cold it seems.

I left to return to Cali that year and never went back other than for a visit, don't miss Ill-annoys at all :/

We have had a pretty mild winter as far as snow and cold go so far.  No complains in moving an inch or two of snow.  AND like MSB to the north of me, I have was able to ride a lot more than usual in January and so far in Feb.     We have had storms move thru and dump the snow in the high country where it belongs,  by the way our home is at 4500', so talking snows above 5000'.

In the past 10 years we have had several below zero events here,  got down to -20 once and -10 multiple times.  As I said, been a mild winter so far, only down to the mid teens several times.

Since being retired, don't have to go drive in the crazy weather anymore.

Do still run the barbeque on regular  basis, though not for cooking wings.   Hamburgers and steaks.   Sometimes have to wear a coat during the cooler times.  Never had to dig out snow to get to it.

That's just what my dad did, he quit the Chicago Motor Club because it got to where it cost him money to run the service calls, they just weren't paying enough to make it worth doing.

I have to agree, it was a lot of fun those days.
