I had a Sportster Roadster about 3 years ago. That was an awesome little bike. I really enjoyed it.

My brother in law owned a VMax (1992, I believe) until he passed away and then his son crashed it.
I never got to ride it and sure wish I'd had the opportunity; it was a beast just sitting there idling and then a rocket when he accelerated away from me on my elder 1100 Gold Wing.

Same V-4 that was in my earlier Venture Royale; plenty of torque available in a bike that I'd still like to have today, even with all the heavy plastic that they hung on it.

An Italian, punk kid who was in with the older hoods hanging around our corner in the city while growing up, "acquired" a '65 Sportster after graduating from a 250 Sprint.  Being 16 y.o. I thought it was the baddest pile of iron that I'd ever stood next to.
I settled for my '67 CL450 a couple of years later and finally got to cure the urge, but it sure didn't measure up to that Sportster in speed, nor noise (the pecking order in stoplight drags).

Motorcycles (specifically HD) that are not returning is no different than Pontiac, Oldsmobile or Valkyries, if the the demand and sales justified it, they'd still be in production and on the show room floor.

bummer the new VMAX is no more.  Would like to get my hands on a used one someday in the future.  Heard they are bulletproof and very nice.  I drove the older 1200 Vmax and was too darn small and uncomfy for me.  The new bigger faster one looks more to my liking.

Cycles in general are going by the wayside overall the younger generation, for the most part, is not into cycles anymore unlike in decades past.  Now they want the fancy turbo sportscars, etc.

I really did like my Roadster, but as you can probably tell I was a little tall for it

Not only was it the best Sportster they made, I really think it was the best Harley they made. The last of the "honest" Harleys.

Get rid of the "Sportster"??????   Is HD gone off the deep end?  I had a Sportster at one time.......and it was actually a FUN bike!

I thought that was their "entry" bike, not to mention its racing history!!   Yea.....not sure I can even believe that it will be gone.......????

I rode that thing around more than I have most bikes I have ever owned......besides my Valkyrie.
