https://www.military.com/daily-news/2021/02/16/air-forces-first-overseas-f-35-fighter-squadron-gets-crowdsourced-new-name.htmlWe should jump on this one. The U.S. Air Force will call its first U.K.-based F-35 Lightning II fighter squadron the Valkyries. The 495th Fighter Squadron, part of the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath, will take on the title, according to a release. The service announced the nickname for its first overseas Joint Strike Fighter squadron Monday; the name beat other crowdsourced choices, including Archangels, Sabres, Sentinels and Swordsmen, the release states.

Old man - you couldn't take it even if they did make 2 seat F35's (which they don't) I'm not too sure how well I would do anymore either

Aircraft are the equipment of squadrons. The squadrons themselves are people. Is this naming implying that the unit will be made up entirely of female warriors?

VFA101 - I believe that squadron number has had a long and storied history. I'm pretty sure they have flown Tomcats and Hornets before their latest transition to F35C (and maybe some before that, like Phantoms and maybe some earlier fighters).

When we were in Key West in the 70's, VF101 was based there with F4B and F4N's -RP
