Christ first and always

Richmond, Kentucky

I have a 2003, first year, Honda Rincon. I used it for years as a yard tractor to pull a 5’ lawn mower. I bought a big Scag zero turn mower in 2015 so the Rincon has been relegated to giving rides to my grandsons. As they are getting bigger and more active it seems less safe to have them on there with me.

I recently considered using it as a trade in on a motorcycle purchase to free up the space in the garage and cut down on the cash outlay. Well that deal could be put together as we were $500 apart. So I was sitting around yesterday after noon and I thought since I had made the decision in my head that I don’t really need the Rincon, why not put it up for sale. I put it on Facebook marketplace and the feeding frenzy started immediately. There were plenty of, “what’s the least dollar you will take” and “would you take $XXXX” all without seeing the Rincon in person. In the space of about 3 hours I was dealing with about 16 separate inquiries and at least 3 I considered serious. One of those three wanted to come and see it right away but was worried if he would be first in line to see it as to not have it sold out from under his self. When I found out he was going to drive 2 1/2 hours to get here from Indiana I agreed he was first in line.

He arrived at about 7 pm and 20 minutes later he was loaded and gone. Fastest transaction I’ve ever been a part of. About 4 hours from placing the ad to waving goodbye.

Should have offered it here first, I would have doubled the asking price, had I known.  Wink

3 grand sounds like a reasonable offer.  I sold my 2008 can am outlander max XT 2-up in about that time as well, but the guy driving over 3 hours one way wanted to call his local Can Am dealer to see what it would cost to go over it.  NO idea why nothing wrong with it, but his money to blow away in the wind I guess?    If you look at a new Honda rincon or can am outlander in that 10K on up range new,  under 1/2 price of new when selling seems like a pretty darn good deal on one with fairly lower mileage on it.

He asked for 200 less than what I wanted so we split the difference gave him 100 bucks off for gas money.

Does not surprise me on cycles or ATV's when sold. IF cleaning them up and nothing needed in immediate future,  my stuff usually sells pretty quickly 1st looker on item.   What gets me is some people think by leaving 1 inch of mud on an ATV or dirty as all heck cycle they still want top dollar or bald tires or they say it use to run a few months ago but does not start now....

I do not bother trying to sell cycles and ATV's to a stealer,  they always low ball me a few grand less than what I can get selling it outright for.    Same goes for my vehicles, but those bigger ticket items where sales tax savings on a trade in comes into play, sometime I give in to a stealer reluctantly.
