I was looking at purchasing a spotting scope.  Did some research and well they are not cheap.

So, since I was (I guess I still am) an amateur astronomer and use to make most of my telescopes, I thought I'd repurpose one as a spotting scope.

This was/is a "copy scope".  What it was, was a lens from a copier at work that they were phasing out (I forget why/what).  It was probably back in the late 90's.

Other than its lineage, it just like any other multi element telescope.  I don't have any idea of the real magnification since I don't know the focal length of the element but the eyepiece is a 10.5mm device.

I have not tired it in the field yet but have checked that the magnification is pretty good with this eyepiece.
