Not a HAM Op.... but a son of one.   Also served in Communications for my Naval  career.  And I once stayed in a Holiday Inn Express....    Grin  if that counts for anything.

Seriously, my Dad was a HAM op, call letters  W3HFE (when I was younger) and I think his license lapsed and he had to get a new one (KA3RXH).   He is no longer with us tho....  I sent his radio mic with him when he passed a little over 10 years ago.... no QSL since tho.

Yes. . . .  I haven't been active in any manner since we moved to the new house in 1985. It's down in a valley, so I never bothered putting up an antenna. I still have all the equipment stored away in the basement. . .  I assume it's all antiques now (i.e. "junk") crazy2 I struggled with code and never really wanted to take it seriously or practice. . . There were a lot of old timers out there willing to go slow and help out, but there were some jerks too. I had a Tech, not a General. Truth be told, I spent most of my time on the "rag" bands; 10 and 11 meter (with applogies to any CBers out there.)

I'm surprise people are putting up their call signs. I guess I'm a little paranoid (job related no doubt.) You can 'run' the call sign at the ARRL website and get your personal information - if it's a legitimate FCC assigned license. I used to have a Post Office Box for exchanging QSL cards. I had them from all around the world. I just burned them all this past summer when cleaning out the office. It brought back some great memories - as has this post. Thanks mikeb  cooldude

Raymond here, WØQNX one of the not so rare 13wpm Extra's. My lovely wife RHonda, AAØOQ (Alpha Alpha ZERO Over Quailified) is a bonafide 20 wpm Extra class first class operator. I seldom visit the ham bands now days.

The original WØQNX was my grandfather who started into amateur radio back in the 20's as a teen. He was originally W9QNX until the 10th distirct was added and his callsign changed by the FCC to WØ.
