Today I noticed that one of the plugs is missing.  I think it's a welch plug.  Aside from me scratching my head about how this thing exited the assembly, where can I get a new one to seal the hole?

Edit: the two pictures that are the same (one with a red circle) is carb #6 taken from the rear of the bike.  The other one is carb #5.

I don't think a plug goes there.  The pic of the #5 carb is the opposite side from the #6 carb pic.  If you look at the #4 and #2 carbs from the rear, you'll see the same hole as what's on the #6 carb.

Or...if you look at #'s 1, 3 and 5 from the front of the bike, you'll see the same thing as what you see on #6 from the rear.

I think I'm dizzy now...

That's not a screen we're seeing inside the hole?

I'd look at the front side of #1, but I just got it back together, I really don't want to have to rip it back apart.

@f-stop - I would agree with your assessment that it would be the same, but carbs in a similar orientation, that's where the either the joint straight tubes are or the t-tubes are, correct?  #1 is currently blocked by the plastic deflector between the radiator and the carburetors, so pretty difficult to get in there without breaking it all down; I agree that I should look here for the similar situation.

If anyone can take a look at their carbs, specifically #6 - I'm interested if that hole is sealed.  That will tell me what I need to do, I just can't remember if it was or not.

It looks like it's plugged to me;  but the actual surface of gthe plug is kind of hard to see, it's out of focus...
As I look at mine, I see 3 such casting holes, all plugged.  For manufacturing reasons, probably.
Unless gas is pouring out of it, just assume it's plugged

#6 on left and #5 on right. These are obviously broken down for rebuild, but you can see that the hole in question is plugged.

The end carbs have the fuel and air rails plugged. The middle carbs are open on both sides.

SO looking at them as though you are sitting on the seat, the top rail (air), and the bottom rail (fuel) are as follows

2 and 1 PLUGGED on front. Connected to 4 and 3 on back.
4 and 3 open with tubes to front carbs, and Ts to rear carbs.
6 and 5 Plugged on back. Connected to 4 and 3 on front.

Hope this helps. Bottom line is your pic shows it the way it is supposed to be.

@Mooskee - that's the picture I needed.  Thanks.  I'll look again when I get home, but I'm pretty sure I'm missing that plug from #6.

If it's like my KZ1300 carbs, there isn't a plug that goes in there.  The carb bodies are cast with those passages closed, and then later drilled out as-needed, depending on which position (1-6) that particular carb is for.

Not saying these holes can't be plugged later- I just wouldn't be surprised if there's not a stock part for it.

I've rebuilt 7 sets of them and never seen that "plug" missing. Of course there are a million of them out there. If I had a hole where it isn't supposed to be I would verify I have all the carbs in the correct position. Perhaps it is possible to swap a couple around. If you look hard at the pics I posted, you will see that I etched them with the carb number. Like ole Foghorn Leghorn used to say "I keep my feathers numbered for just such occasions. Wink
