Picked my Valkyrie up Friday and had first proper ride on it today.Bad news the clutch slips but only when warmed up and harsh accelerating.First impression is it’s BIG but comfortable only took it gently to 3000rpm =66 mph can’t get idle speed below 1500rpm tried adjusting it no joy.Cobras noisy but found an oem with 3 piggies removed to fit.Gear change improved by fitting a Blackbird lever ( got issues with my foot ) I like it and look forward to getting problems resolved ready for good weather and COVID restrictions relaxed

Does it have automobile oil in it?
More details will be beneficial in a diagnosis.

I’m guessing the dealer I bought it from, not a main Honda dealer has stuck same oil used in the modern engines.I’ve asked for advice in the technical section on here

do the simple things first changing brake/clutch fluids all around, maybe spark plugs,  change oil to say mobil 1 synthetic 10w-40 or Rotella T6 5w-40 synthetic, and adjust idle speed knob below gas tank you will see it down there down to 1100 or so rpms, should work I hope.

does not surprise me buying from a dealer who does NOTHING to get it running in good working condition again.  My somewhat 30 miles away local Honda dealer for giggles stopped 2x's in past 5 years drove an identical honda valkyrie I/S as mine ran like crap and brakes stuck not working as they should and just did not drive as it should.  Last summer saw what appeared to be a nice 2004 honda goldwing wife and I took it for a spin and tires were way too old very hard and rode too rough for my tastes.  Dealer both times were unwilling to replace what needed replacing ASAP so left dealer them stating whomever buys it is their expense on repairs.

The information "Donut" on the oil container must be empty on the bottom half. Most automotive oils have some thing like 'Energy Conserving' there. That kills wet clutches.
