Yesterday after work I took a hot shower. I was tired but the hot water relaxed me. I guess too relaxed because I accidentally kicked the corner of the wall leaving the bathroom. I was sure I broke my pinky toe on my right foot. So by dinner time it was turning black and blue. And it was hurting like a broke toe. I wore some old work boots today that are loose and I hobbled around a little. Later I decided to take the bike out for a ride and errands so I got brave and squeezed my foot into the harness boot that was pretty tight. That hurt like heck and I figured it was a mistake. But... in a minute it started to feel better. I went riding without issue and when I took the boots off my foot issue was cured. I guess it was just dislocated and the tight motorcycle boot reduced it. Ok, so now my story is Valkyrie related And yes, I do feel much better now

My bathroom door (to the bedroom) is narrower than usual (for indoor doors). I've whacked my little toes (and shoulders) going through that doorway so many times over the years, I now go through it sideways. Mostly in the dark, but not always.
Pavlovian training (and crooked toes).

2nd xyl and I lived in Colorado before moving to Missouri. Had an old fashioned bed frame with those square metal legs. Day or night I KNEW my toes wuz blind as many times as that bed frame jumped out in front of my feet. RIDE SAFE.

Yes I know the perils of navigating the house barefooted in the dark. I hate that darn I thought I knew where that was feeling

Jeff,
It seems to me that any fella with even a modest amount of experience with co-habitation knows of this hazard! I used to run into stuff in the dark and make the predictable exclamations of angst, followed by my spouse at the time always responding, "I told you I moved that..." Didn't help...

YES!!! It’s worse when she moves stuff!!! I hate it when that happens!!! I've learned some hard and painful lessons about this topic. I have traveled a significant amount in my life. Obviously, during my military time I was gone a lot. After the military, I've had several different jobs that required me to travel for shorter time frames but, have always loved to be on the go. But, doing the "Hot Shot" thing and transporting things all over the country was always one of my favorite things to do. I got to see a lot of interesting country, meet all kinds of folks and made a few bucks doing it but, coming home was always an adventure. She (the wife) would always move furniture around into different configurations. Can't tell you how many times I thought I broke a toe or two. The one advantage I've found about aging is, she can't move the furniture around as much as she used to. My toes really appreciate that. Now, if her damn dog would stop trying to trip me, all would be good but, apparently that's too much to ask. Rams

Many a time I've wondered if perhaps safety-toed house slippers might be a good idea... Maybe even a nocturnal skull-cap, knee-guards, and the like... Dang! Now I'm starting to sound like a government person!!! Could it actually be as simple as just using the light switch...?

One must ask themselves if it's worth getting yelled at for turning on a light and waking your spouse up in the middle of the night or, should one try moving about in the dark risking life and limb. Decisions always have consequences. Rams

When I get back upstairs two hungry cats force me to turn on the light by the bed so I can put some kibble in one bowl and splash some water in the other... -Mike
