Well Bruce....and everyone actually, I did finally make contact with my bio-mother, half sister and one half brother. Turned out the other brothers died of lymphoma cancer at a young age, plus my bio-father at age 56 so I never got to meet him. The one half bro, half sis & I had a wonderful reunion. My mother was a tiny thing, when I hugged her I was able to touch my shoulders with my hand from the opposite side. All have long since passed away, leaving me as the surviving member of a family of eight. I'm also the surviving member of a family of four which was my adopting parents and an adopted sister. Actually my adoptive mother died of cancer when I was age 10, dad remarried not long after and she died of the effects of numerous strokes at about age 72 0r 73. Dad lived to age 93. A strange coincidence between both sets of parents. My bio-parents names were Jack & Vivian, my adoptive parents with dad's second wife were John & Vivian, dad was often called Jack....a common thing for those named John. So, I had bio-parents Jack & Viv plus adoptive parents John(Jack) & Viv. There's much more to the story re. how I finally found my bio-family, but it's somewhat detailed and of little importance. Just know it didn't happen overnight but the thrill was by no means diminished.
An interesting side note re. my first wife. She had been raped prior to my meeting her in Denver while I was going through tech school in the Air Force. She carried the baby and put it up for adoption. Many years later, they made contact and my girls were thrilled they had a half sister. As some of you know, both my oldest and my daughter #3 were taken from us by cancer. A couple years ago, my youngest daughter here in Wisconsin showed me a picture of the rape baby, now a full grown lady of 61 at the time. The picture made me break down in tears....she's nearly a twin of my oldest daughter we lost. I hope to one day be able to meet her, she lives in Illinois so shouldn't be too difficult. Life certainly has some strange twists to it.
