Are there hotel/motels on 212 between Alzada and Billings? I perfer a mom and pop/cheap place but in a 'safe' area. Going to the Little Bighorn and the Pillar and will be taking 212 back home. Someone mentioned Broadus (sp) and another mentioned Lame Deer but wouldn't recremend it due to what he saw, whatever that means.  ??? Rather not spend high $$ in Billings. Thx.

We stayed at the Super 8 in Hardin after seeing Little Big Horn.  Then we rode to Pompey's Pillar.  It was $66 in 2003.

Wow thx for the pix. I tried to get there last year but severe storms were brewing and it usually means hail. I was right to, worse hail in SD history. Glad I left.
I'll jot the hotel down, thx!

I was out there the day after that happened .... it was during the Sturgis rally and there were broken windshields and broken windows in campers, etc. The brunt of it was up north of Sturgis near the campgrounds. Some people were taken to hospital for head injuries.

Fudgie -
I'd bet on Broadus for lodging as I know it's a popular spot for hunters.

If going out west to MT, Little Bighorn, etc, give me a shout.  I live in SW ND, and a nice days ride to those places.  Welcome to stay here.

Thx for the invite but I'll have to pass. We plan on leaving the next day for home. Depending on who goes with us we have to meet them back in Sturgis for the journey home. As time gets closer I'll get your number and maybe do dinner in the area if time allows.
My original plan was go head into ND and swing south and see Sitting Bull grave. I have a full agenda to do in 10 days. It maybe in the works for 2011.

Hey little buddy, isn't that road on an Indian Reservation?

If so, very few to none in the line of Motels.

Might have changed in the past few years but I know no facilities on a Reservation.

You might want to try Priceline I use it lots and it works wonderfully well and have stayed in some really nice places cheap.  Secondly I travel a lot in that country and just look at your surroundings... not at all like the big city... pretty safe most places in my humble opinion...

If you join the Motorcycle club Southern Cruisers (it's Free) then you can get 20% off Choice Hotels. You can't just walk in and get the discount at the desk, you have to call ahead. But you can call the 800# from a hotel parking lot and get the discount.
A lot of times you stay 3 nights and earn a free day

I always try and see if they have a Gov/Homeland security discount. Most do and others say 'A what?'

I do have the choice and another hotel discount card. I should be getting to a free one by now.

We spent some time in downtown Alzada (the gas station / convenience store).  Not a whole lot there, or a place to stay, but the people are friendly and the pronghorns plentiful.

That must be the Sinclair. I was there in 06. The barn/bar on the corner had a sign that read, 'we have lousy food but cold beer!'  2funny

I stayed at the Twin Cubs in Billings on the way home from Inzane VI in 2006.  Reasonably priced, clean, older couple owner/operator, quiet part of town.
