An update on using my GL.iNET GL-MT300N-V2 (Wireless Mini Portable Travel Router, Mobile Hotspot in Pocket, WiFi Repeater Bridge, Range Extender, OpenVPN Client, 300Mbps High Performance, 128MB RAM) on the road (previous post link shown below).

Ok, I have now found the "easy" way to get it hooked up and it does not seem rational but it has worked three times now.

The problem is that when you connect to a WiFi network in the major hotel chains they want you to log onto their website to authorize the connection.

While I suspect there is a way to do that inside the GL Net Admin Page I just have not found a way.

Sometimes, if I let it set for 30 minutes or so, it sort of brings up the log on page itself.

However, when I checked into a Hampton Inn the other day, I got a note about setting up the network connection. Same stuff as before, name and room number.

However the next line stated that you were to open your browser and type in WWW.ESPN.COM.

I thought that was BS but, it worked at that Hampton Inn and the next and also the Holiday Inn.

Fire up the router, let it connect to the network (waiting for authorization), open your browser (Safari in my cased) and type in www.espn.com.  Next comes the hotel log in screen and you are done.

Don't ask me why it works.  It did and does.

That cute little router works just fine most of the time. The only way it could be better is if it had 5GHz band as well.
