Before you jump on me, I’m not getting rid of my Valkyrie. This is a second bike I am looking to trade my Yamahog 1300 for a Vulcan 2000. A little background, I had a Vulcan drifter 800 which I liked a lot, but it lacked grunt. This bike has plenty of that (actually more than my Valkyrie) but not crazy about the drive belt situation. Those things are expensive! Anybody have an opinion or experience you’d share about this bike?

I had a thread on them not long ago, I love the Vulcan 2000. Drive belts can be had for not too much cash, not oem but just as good,I checked it on a Vulcan forum. I really like the idea of fuel injection and cruising the highway at low rpm's. Don't get me wrong, my Valk is still #1, but the Vulcan looks very good to me as a nice 'other flavor' of big motorcycle.

[/quote] The Vulcan 2000s that I have actual 'experience' with were bad about not actually registering 'neutral' when you were in neutral, thereby, requiring a push (with the operator in position and squeezing the clutch lever) and lever release to kind of like 'jumpstart' it. It always worked and if I actually owned one of the Vulcan 2000s I would have fixed that right off. It's not real complicated. John

Perfect diction. I knew someone that had one. It had a problem from new that the factory could not figure out nor fix. It was a very long time ago and I do not remember exactly what it was but it was in the transmission.

Just as well the deal fell through. NADA showed over $6K and he’s asking $3.6K but I wanted to trade for my Royal Star 1300 +$. I Was only mildly interested but now glad I passed.

Same with mine some sort of shifter “spring” internal broke twice leaving me a hundred plus miles from home out on a day ride. Don’t remember what the other was but it was between 1&3. And all 3 happened within a year. Had it two years first year not a problem but about 15k she went south.
