Motorcycle shortage

Has anybody been at a Honda dealer lately?
I just went to one in Green Bay they sell Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha I think, they had about 10 bikes on the floor it’s a huge dealership they put snowmobiles back on the sales floor so it won’t be so empty. He said they’re not getting any new bikes in until September.
Same with UTV very hard to get.
If they get anything on the floor it is sold in hours.
So if you are thinking about a new bike better buy by now.

Tell me about it. Used Goldwings priced right disappear faster than a fart in a whirlwind. I cant react fast enough to snag one. Mainly due to them being a good bit away from my home and someone swoops in before I can make a deal.

        Honda dealer near me has more H/D iron on the floor than other brands. Can Am and everything else sides Suzuki. And the H/Ds according to the Sales Mgr. do Not last very long when they hit the floor. I personally would Rather be on my Valkyrie.  RIDE SAFE.

Haven't been in a Honda Dealership in years that had anything I was interested in.   Seems like everyone I do visit is full of side by sides and other machines for off roading or boating. 

But, Craigslist and Market Place are full of bikes for sale.   Just not new bikes.

craigslist not so much since they charging fee to post but facebook marketplace is TONS of cycles, etc. for sale.  Some very good priced others way overpriced.  I see more and more late 70's,  early to mid 80s cycles asking over 2 grand which is more than they were being sold for in the 90's.   IMO not worth it.

If this keeps up our Valks will be once again worth in that 6-8K range right? 

Go look at car dealerships; lot lately, or at least some of them.   Our local mom/pop one in town use to have 5 rows of cars forever, now only 1.5 rows of vehicles to sell.    I hear there is a chip shortage that affects most brands of vehicles thus not building as many. 

Been looking at a new toyota tundra and NONE around in my color/pkg combo anywhere most are either black or white and at most 2-3 new ones on the lot is all.

I doubt our Valkyries will grow in value but, one never knows for sure.   This I know, my Valkyries are not currently for sale.   That isn't to suggest that if someone offered me the right price they wouldn't go down the road hauling someone else's ass but, I seriously doubt that's going to happen.

Reference new cages and low numbers on the lots.   I guess it depends on where you're looking.   New vehicles have always been too expensive for much of the driving public and with the prices being asked today, I don't see that changing.   The COVID Pandemic has caused supply chain challenges it appears but, is that factual or is the Pandemic being used as an excuse to keep inventories low.   I don't know the answer to that.

It is amazing how most vehicles go up and up and up every year around 2-3 percent.  Most on fixed income or raises per year at work less than that makes it hard to look at msrp sticker on lot of say 30K on up for most new vehicles, especially SUV's and trucks.  Around me though it seems 1-2 year old vehicles dealers are asking near full price of buying a new vehicle though, especially those in short supply like some SUV and trucks.   I do see though a lot of Ford trucks on lots but Chevy and Toyota not so much to pick from.  Maybe Ford being the no 1 seller of trucks makes so many they are not in as much short supply?

One thing I know is the higher the new vehicles get (cycles included), the more expensive, overall, that used vehicles get as well.

There is a shortage of metric bikes in my local Auto RV magazine but HD's are plentiful due to folk not being able to pay lifetime loans to Harley anymore. A lot dealers should or are doing consignment sales for private individuals now days.

            What he told me-sales mgr-was at the prices he was giving at auction no way no how could he pass the H/Ds up. And as he told me-they Are moving off the floor. Whenever that new G/W came out a couple years back he could Not git one on the floor. And being as we Are in farm and ranch country here he also has a Lot of 4 wheelers and side by sides on the floor and he moves a lot of them. Also now selling some Pricy zero turm mowers. Yes, I was in the market for a new vehicle.  I looked at the used ones....and they were two to three years old, with 60,000 or more miles on them.

THOSE were only two or three K less than a brand new one!  Guess which one I sprung for?  Yes, the prices are crazy!

There is a shortage of new people coming along that have any desire to 'carry on' the fun tradition.

At our local Honda dealer, four wheel Hondas appear to be the bulk of the business.  They told me they had a Goldwing on order but could not get it.  The Harley dealer is well-stocked and selling.  Most large bikes seen in my area are Harleys.  Around here, Harley-Davidson is considered "The real deal".

same around here if you ask ANYONE they all say most riding HD's if you do not have a HD,  you are not riding.  I say BS on that one when I pass those HD boyz on my 250cc scooter..... at least up to say 75 mph....       I get very WEIRD looks when I pass them or any other vehicle putzing along at 55-60 mph.  ONE got ticked off though and would NOT allow me to pass I had it floored 78 mph he was doing 60 mph and stomped on it but he finally let me in front of him but rode VERY close behind for a few miles.

Yes,  Honda dealers and others are doing consignment sales for customers basically collecting a fee for keeping it on their lot and to help sell it.  However,  the dealers do NOTHING for safety or inspection that I know of since drove a few consignment used goldwings/valkyries and BOTH needed obvious work done to them in braking/tires, etc.    Honda dealer told me that is up to the buyer to get done since they will not fix what needs fixing at the HOnda dealer

As far as HD's we have them everywhere for sale where I am. Facebook market, pick what HD you want and there is one for sale close by. We have a lot of military here and their choice seems to be 650 sport bikes, many for sale.

Other then those bikes there does seem to be a shortage right now of used and new bikes.

Greeneville Honda had an almost empty showroom floor last week. No new wings, few Talons. Feller in the service department said they can't get any products in.

Seems COVID and supplier shortages on parts are causing production downtimes at factories. Same can be said for the Deere John mowers at Lowes.
