I’ve always been an optimistic pessimist. Not because I’m bitter and grumpy but because about the time we start making headway something comes along that takes the wind out of our sails. Such is life and we deal with it accordingly. As most know I was in an accident last October, I had surgery and went back to work end of December. We were finally getting back on track even replaced my bike and making plans to put some real miles on it. The. Karma or Murphy reared it’s ugly head. So back to square one, 2021 is starting off like 2020 ended but could be worse...

Well, that sucks.   My only advice is to follow the doc's orders and march on.
Keeping a positive attitude is supposed to help.   Wouldn't know myself...............  uglystupid2

Sorry for your predicament.  I'm still wondering what happened this time around?  Just a botched first surgery or another boo-boo?

Hope they get it fixed up for good, and you're able to salvage at least some of this riding season and all of the next.

I'm with ya on that optimistic pessimist perspective, I think it's from experience and baked into life's cake.

It would be interesting to hear what the physician said to you about that.  The plate and screws should be no longer needed after the bone has healed.

My doctor told me we only go in to mess with them if they are causing a problem as there is a risk of infection everytime the protective layers (skin) is opened.

My wife broke her back falling down the porch steps. 6 screws in her back one was backing out causing intense pain. We should have sued that stoned looking waterhead doctor that installed them.

If you look at the x-ray... that bone is not correctly healed.  It looks like there may have been some secondary trauma after the original repair.

You can't do much about the length of your life, so focus on the width.

Good point.  I was focused on the plate and screws.

I had an appointment back in February X-ray looked good but was having a lot of shoulder pain and swelling. He said my muscles were readjusting and to go get a massage and keep heat on it, So somewhere between the beginning of March and now the plate snapped, no trauma just regular activity. His guess is the muscles tightened up and I moved just right that caused it. But he was concerned that the bone had t healed.

I hope it all works out for you for I know as I age the days I feel bad/sore makes me appreciate a LOT more the days I do not feel any pain.   My right hip/leg has been bugging me past 1 year or so unable to lift my right leg up very high and am now having issues walking up steps having to hang onto the railing to get my right leg up each step.  My left leg seems near fine/normal, but know something is WRONG and worse case I think is my right HIP is giving out since notice pretty severe pain if I do a lot of yardwork walking around if I stand upright with my weight on my right leg much even standing still not doing anything, my hip/leg throbs needing to sit down very soon hurts so bad just standing.  I sometimes walk limping somewhat day to day like my right leg is dead to me not wanting to move it upward to just walk.  Wife says I walk like I am 90 years old very slowly and with a gimp.
