the one means they will have to come into your residence to inspect. Surrounded by same party allies in Newark, Governor Phil Murphy this morning unveiled what he described as the most significant “gun violence prevention package in the history of the nation.” The proposal includes $10 million street outreach. “These will be new funds,” Murphy said. He rattled off some of the other provisions in the sweeping package. These include: Mandating the storage of all guns in a lock box. Increasing the minimum age for buying a gun to 21. All guns would be equipped with microtechnology enabling the tracing of bullets to specific guns. Electronic record keeping of all ammunition sold in New Jersey. Ban the sale of .50 caliber guns. Closing the loophole that allows those moving to New Jersey from out of state to be free and clear from the procedures and requirements of New Jersey. Murphy also wants to increase the accountability of the gun industry. https://www.insidernj.com/murphy-unveils-gun-violence-prevention-package/

Yeah, like New Jersey didn't already have way too many gun laws.
(I'm scared to even enter that state. I once did by accident, and I turned right around and went back the way I came, and slowly.)

'Political leadership' is demonstrated by decisive action. Never mind if it's effective or accomplishes anything meaningful, only that bold action is taken for the good of the people! "We won't sit idly by and allow this undesirable thing to go on... No sir, we're going to take specific, comprehensive action!" Gun violence involves both violence and guns, obviously... Then, I ask myself is the problem here the violence or is it the guns...? Where is all the focus and emphasis being placed?
Political action involves lots of 'action' but not usually solutions. Politicians want to appear earnest, committed, and aggressive... but they are also loath to give up on good issues to milk publicly to garner votes. They are quick to pick any low-hanging fruit, but they never seem to get around to actually making things better... How could that be? Solving a problem means putting it to rest. 'Acting' on a problem means keeping it alive and available, while appearing to be...
In spite of all the fury and frenetic 'action', we still have large amounts of violence... Will the absence of guns change that? Will violent people without their guns stop being violent? Or, will the numbers simply increase in other areas? Guns are easier to blame than human behavior... Addressing human behavior issues is far beyond the realm of political interest and/or intrigue... No votes to gain by playing with that tar-baby...

The problem with political jokes is they sometimes get elected to governorship....or higher! Wonder when they will discover none of those guns operate on their own...it's the user/owner. What a wild idea!

I know when my guns have been up to no good. When they come home they don’t look you in the eye. They won’t interact with you. They come home and go directly to their room. If they come home and take a shower before the do anything else, I know they’ve been really bad.

But what exposes the anti-gun lobby (and Black Lives Matter) most clearly is the fact that about 7000 black men a year are murdered mostly by other black men. Why are these activists obsessing over the relatively rare incidents of mass shootings, while this carnage goes on year after year? And isn’t it shameless that the Biden crew are blustering now about the “crisis of gun violence” when they stood silent or encouraged the riots, looting, and vandalism last year that cost billions of dollars in damages and 30 deaths, with black Americans over-represented among the victims? The double-digit spike in gun-crimes over the last year––a real crisis–– is the consequence of cuts in police funding demanded by the BLM protestors, leaving the streets vulnerable to predators. The answer is plain: those genuine crises do not serve the partisan “woke” narrative of evil white people oppressing blacks. The “gun crisis” is part of the larger caricature of conservative white males as neurotic flat-earthers fearful of “people of color,” assertive, emasculating women, and any change that fosters equality and “social justice.” In that narrative, owning and shooting guns, and watching westerns and action movies, provide psychic compensation for their insecurities while also providing feelings of empowerment in a world that frightens and confuses them. No doubt there are sexual insecurities as well, caused by confident, liberated women knowledgeable about female orgasms––phobias that the phallic gun can soothe. https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/2021/04/gun-control-melodrama-back-another-season-bruce-thornton/
