I stole some VisionQuest from DDT. He graciously let Brayden and I tag along on his way back east. We both had a great time. Brayden said he’s one of the coolest friends I have. That says a little about my friends, but it says more about Bruce. It’s pretty hard not to like Bruce. We had a good ride to Payson. But I didn’t to take any pics or do the Relive thing. On our way home today I got a couple pics. We had plans to visit Tonto Natural Bridge. But they didn’t open till 9, and I was worried about beating the heat. We did have some excitement by Jerome though. A truck had lost his driveshaft on a tight corner and was hit by an oncoming car after he went into their lane. Nobody was hurt, but it took a while to get the road opened back up. When they finally did a couple sport bikes decided they were in a hurry and played Johnny Racer. A couple miles later one overcooked the corner and crashed bad. He hit a rock bank which shot him off the bike up 15 feet on the rocks. He was kept up there by a small tree. He did have full gear on, but I don’t think he fared too well. Several people were trying to help him and we moved on. I hope he is ok. Our last hour of the ride was hot. We stopped in Kingman and soaked our sweatshirts under the mesh jackets.

We had a great time. I need a nap now. Thanks for the slice of VisionQuest, and letting us tag along Bruce  cooldude

Looks like a couple retirees living the dream -- and a fledgling coddiewompler.   Good on the lot of ya!   cooldude

Bruce if ya need some cooling off, 50° right now here and storms thru Tuesday.  S'posed to cease and be back to the sweltering low 60s by Wednesday.  No fanning necessary.   coolsmiley

It's a real blessing when ever Bruce rides into the area.   You can almost bet there's a rain cloud chasing him.   It rarely catches up with him.   cooldude cooldude  Always enjoy him passing through.

Holy crow, who's that old guy with Bruce and Brayden?

Looks like some old gold prospector they picked up.

Looks like a great ride Rob, you're a lucky dude your grandson likes hanging with ya.

Brayden turned out to be a great looking young man, in spite of some bad influence  Smiley

Rob & Brayden,

No theft involved, the 'Quest' was happily shared! Fab things we did for sure, and easily a highlight of my recent travels! Even the weather cooperated for the most part, and we didn't encounter the brunt of the notorious heat of Arizona on our leg of the journey... Of course, staying above the 'Rim' made all the difference...

I can't say enough good things about Brayden! It was a genuine pleasure to have him with us, and for my money, he's welcome on any future ride we might do! A perfect guy to have along... No gripping, didn't try to dominate the conversations, just a pleasant, respectful participant. Spoke rather articulately when asked questions, and he seemed quite comfortable hanging out with a couple of geezers! He was game for just about anything, and he held up really well no matter what we ran into. Yes indeed, I was very  impressed!

Ironically, while you were 'descending' the rim on you way home, I stayed up on it. Yep, while y'all were soaking your sweatshirts to stay cool, I was wearing my Gerbings liner and chaps to stay warm! Truly amazing what a couple of thousand feet of elevation can do to alter temperatures... even one's breathing, too.

I had a really good ride back over to Socorro, NM, and I didn't find any heat at all until the last twenty miles or so as we slid down into the Rio Grande Valley... Even then I didn't have to de-layer until we arrived at the motel... of course, it was absolutely necessary by then!

What a remarkable, completely unplanned adventure this whole thing has turned out to be. I'd been just meandering around randomly veering here, turning there... when an idea popped into my thinker muscle... And the rest you know, because you were an integral part of it.

Thanks, Rob & Brayden, for sharing a slice of life with this tired old gypsy rider. You've really made a major contribution to my memory bank!
