The Gods laugh when I make plans!   I believe that DDT has it right “the best plan is no plan”!  That way you don’t get disappointed when circumstances send you off in a totally different direction from what you thought you might be doing.

My big plans for Inzane 2016 in Morgantown, WV got smashed by a medical priority.  Now my big plans for Inzane Athens and the following week riding around WV have been scuttled by a medical problem!  Maybe the Gods of West Virginia don’t want me to show any motorcycle friends the little known and off the beaten path back roads that I so enjoy there.  Mountaineers do tend to like things private and undistrurbed.

So, after a meeting with my cardiologist today, it is clear that my Afib problem will not be fixed before the first of July.  I will be on blood thinners until at least the end of July.  That doubles up on the risk of riding until I can get off the blood thinners and back to normal, whatever “normal” is.

I am not going to miss Inzane!  I will be there...... but I am going to be there on 4 wheels instead of 2.  I will not be leading any friends along scenic backroads during the week following Inzane.  Yes, I am sad about that, but there will be other days and other opportunities to show off some little known parts of and history of West Virginia.  This year I will enjoy the conversations and camaraderie of fellow Valkyrie riders at Inzane.  That by itself is a good and enjoyable pass time.

Just being there is good enough . A four wheel bs er is just as good as a two wheel bs er.

Jerry,

As you well know, feces occurs... or words to that effect. Yep, a disappointment for you and others of us, as well, but... you know the drill. As well as anyone I know, you are aware of what's going on, how it is that these things happen, and, most importantly, they are not the end of the world!

Set-backs come at us at odd, often inconvenient times, and they do throw wrenches into well-made plans. Oh well... Just as you said, other opportunities will come down the road, so we just take things in stride and shift our focus to better times ahead... Who knows...

This could be a blessing in disguise, ya know, as it will offer you some peace and good will with Mural for not being gone so long, thus buying you some time for later when Canada opens up again finally, and we can scoot up there! You can count on me for plenty of 'jaw time' at IZ... that is, provided I show up myself... You're not the only one who suffers set-backs, either!!!

A quote from one of my favorite movies seems applicable here.

Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!
