A Nasty Pipeline Showdown Is Brewing Today in Michigan, and Canada Is Pissed

The idiot MI governor has illegally ordered the pipeline closed, but Enbridge responded "HaHa, Make us!".

https://earther.gizmodo.com/a-nasty-pipeline-showdown-is-brewing-today-in-michigan-1846877429

"The escalating situation in Michigan is also posing a big problem for the Biden administration. In January, President Biden made Canadians angry (wow) by revoking a permit for the Keystone XL pipeline, which would have carried tar sands from Canada into the U.S. Even though supporting the end of a fossil fuel flow would be in line with his administration’s climate-friendly image, wading into the mess in Michigan could mean pissing off the Canadians (again, wow) even more. And Canada seems ready to fight for dirty fuels: It filed suit against Michigan this week, while the Canadian government said Tuesday that the case “raises concerns regarding the efficacy of the historic framework upon which the U.S.-Canada relationship has been successfully managed for generations.”

The official deadline for shutting off the flow of oil is tonight, but even if Enbridge does an about-face and turns off the pipeline, it looks like the drama won’t be ending anytime soon in the Great Lakes. How exactly the first big pipeline showdown of the Biden administration will play out remains anyone’s guess—but everyone from the federal government to environmental groups to Canadians may have a chance to jump in on the brawl

I say Go Go Gretchen. Shut it down.

Then maybe Eastern Canada will see what life without heat and gas will be like (many on ON and Quebec heat their homes with propane). Maybe they’ll see that the pipelines we’ve been trying to build for the last 20 years so we could process and use our own energy might have been a good idea. Maybe they’ll see what “zero emissions” transportation and home heating are really like.

Until they suffer, they’ll never learn. And they’ll keep voting Trudeau until they do.

It's curious how all these fossil fuel pipelines are suddenly becoming top priority to me.
I'm not suggesting this pipe line doesn't need maintenance, repair or replacement, I'm not there and I'm not qualified to make that judgement but, I question why now.    I suspect when fuel prices go through the roof and proposed replacements fail how the Governor will do in the next election.   Of course, her goals are set way out there, well after she's gone and most likely forgotten.
If, the pipeline is that dangerous, why the extended time to do something, it should have happened the day she was sworn in.

I doubt there is a whole lot she can do about it. What, like send in the police?

She got sued, and lost, over the covid shutdowns because she exceeded her authority.
This looks like another case of her ego's sense of grandiosity attempting to usurp the law.
The dictator is very slow to recognize and face reality. She is better and smarter than everyone else (in her mind).
